Still haven't decided if this game is going to be any good, but that's a pretty decent amount of extra content for $30.

No idea. She was a competent character in FF13 but, unless I missed something, not exceptional. Hasn't stopped the series from selling a metric fuckton of units though (something over 10 million between 13 and 13-2), which is probably why it's made it this far.

You nailed it, she is big in japan. Not sure why as she's probably the worst final fantasy protag yet.

It's because her creater, who is working on Final Fantasy, fell in love with her. There is a lot of wierd stories that have come out of the building making the FF13 games, such as having a Lightning doll suspended over the work stations so the workers have someone to "look up to"

maybe i should finish ff13 sometime cause i kind of liked it i just think it dragged on a lot, especially the fights cause i remember the Protoflorian boss took me 46 minutes to kill???
I'll pick it up out of the bargain bin or something in a year or two. Did that with 13-2 and it was quite enjoyable and had one of the most unique villains the series has seen in a while.

Yeah I found combat eeally drawn out and boring, even if it looked nice. Plus the combat system is plain silly.
i have one question for everyone who liked FF 13
what's a ly'cie

Google is your friend.
"The l'Cie (ルシ, Rushi?) [lə'siː] (pronounced "luh-see") are humans "branded" by divine entities and given great physical and magical power, as well as a Focus to fulfill."
If they complete their Focus, they're turned into crystal statues and given eternal life, and if they fail they become Cie'eth which are basically the monsters you fight throughout the game. Because of those outcomes, they're looked upon very unfavorably by the general population, and it's everyone's worse nightmare to become a L'cie.
Side note: Did everyone else's Facepunch just go blurry, sepia, and then oversaturated, or did something on my computer just shit itself?
wait so being turned into a crystal statue gives you eternal life
okay?
so being a basically frozen statue unable to do anything, is a good thing?

Well that's kinda the thing; neither outcome is a good one. In-universe, everyone views being turned into a L'cie as a death sentence.

i'm so sorry, i got my nonsense fantasy terms mixed up(can't imagine why)
what I meant was what are the giant magic things that make people into l'cies
IMAGINE
just imagine
for ONE second
if you could select which abilities you want people to use in a party turn based RPG
before you reply JUST think about it

Those were the Fal'Cie, which are basically living gods if I'm not mistaken.
Honestly, I still haven't figured FFXIII's story out completely.

yes, but what are they
like, just a vague description. They are kind of the axis on which the plot turns, after all. I mean I can tell you what the espers from FF6 are and what the Lords in dark souls are, just give me a brief description of what fal'cie are.

Well, there are two types, Sanctum and Pulse. Sanctum Fal'Cie are generally considered benevolent with each one serving a purpose for sustaining life and civilization. Pulse Fal'Cie create L'cie as a means to fight against Sanctum and destroy Cocoon (where everyone lives).
Best I can do; I still haven't beaten the same so I don't understand it fully.

yes but again, that's what they do, not what they are, or where they come from, or how they work
Like, do they think? Are they robots? Where do they come from? Why do they want to do the things they do if they think?
i mean espers were pretty hand wavey in 6 with just being sort of "magic things", but the story didn't really focus on them as things with agency. They don't really do anything except turn into rocks and teach you magic. But in 13 they actually do stuff to people and have plans? and want to destroy things because?
so what are they

I gotta get to work, but here's the wiki page for it. Fal'Cie.
Hopefully that helps.

So, like, they took Cloud...
...and they put his personality in a woman. So that means you have a Cloud which the target audience can get a boner to!
i havent played ff7 so you and kondor arent rly helping
all i can gather is that cloud is also a boring retarded ass
i havent played ff7 so you and kondor arent rly helping

I played FF7 after years of people whining about and hyping up how much of an emo Cloud supposedly was.
Turns out he does pretty much no angsting save for one section where he's having a complete mental breakdown and even then I wouldn't really call it angsting, has a sense of humour, and gets over it as he progresses. He only angsts in Advent Children because the writers reversed his character development to fit what people thought Cloud acted like.
If you plan to buy this, wait for it to go on sale for a really low price. I commited the mistake to buy the Collector's Edition of FF13 when it came out and some time later it become ultra cheap.
