Well, I'm thinking about replacing my Mobo and CPU from my Compaq SR2020NX with this Mobo/CPU combo form newegg. Now, I've already upgraded the power supply to a 450W Cooler Master one, and I've upgraded the RAM to 2x 1GB sticks (I think the brand is corsair, I'd have to look) DDR2 (don't know the clock rate), and I've upgraded the hard drive to a 360GB WD Caviar drive, and added in a really old floppy drive from an old computer (I recently I to recover from a bad BIOS flash...). I need to be able to reuse everything I'm not replacing (it's not within my budget), including the CD drive, RAM, Power Supply, and case, and my budget is around $140.
The primary reason I'm thinking about this upgrade is that I just bought a GeForce 8400 GS 2 weeks ago, and have found out that it would seem my BIOS is incompatible (the mobo has a PCIe slot, but the BIOS doesn't appear to support the card and there are no working BIOS upgrades...:bang:) and so am looking to upgrade the mobo so I can use it. I've noticed that that particular mobo in that combo has an integrated ATI card that would meet my card requirements, but depending on my monetary situation I may either return the GeForce 8600 and use the money to pay for it, or put it into the case and figure out how to use it for PhysX and the integrated card for graphics. (since they both seem to be fairly close in performance, and only nVidia cards can use PhysX (bullshit))
So, does it look like the upgrade will work? Or is there another one that will work that will give me a similar or larger performance increase for relatively the same price?
Oh, and it may be useful to know that I live in the USA... but the newegg link gave that away, right?
That should work fine
Works swell.
Just one question: Were you high when you ordered that GFX?

Cards have other uses than gaming ya know. He could be using it simply because he doesn't have integrated.

It's actually just the only reasonably priced PCIe card I could find that would fit my mobo (and it turns out that it doesn't work in it anyways...) - and is conveniently also the minimum requirements for borderlands. :V

There is just somethind I don't know about, though - I've never upgraded a mobo or cpu before, so do I just take out the old and put in the new and turn it on and everything will work fine or what?

Pretty much. Just make sure you seat the cooler on the CPU correctly. And be very careful taking out your current CPU and putting in the new one. One bent pin and the whole thing won't work.
i use tweesers :V
