At least they have it, so the people who do want to use it can, unlike Sony, who flat out don't have it whatsoever despite there being a fuck ton of PS2 classics which would be great to play on a modern console.

I still hate their 180 on this.
It was supported. Shit, it was supported on a hardware level on the original PS3. But every single patch and revision slowly shut it down more and more just so they could resell the games to you in the PS store instead.

If I recall correctly, the emulation on the PS3s without the PS2 hardware built-in had some emulation problems with games. That and I doubt Sony ever officially tested every single game to be sure all games were being emulated correctly. So it's understandable why they locked that feature on the PS3. However, the PS4's hardware is more than enough powerful to emulate all games perfectly as long as the emulator is developed correctly and there's no excuse on why PS1 emulation is abscent.
I bet as the time passes it will be more popular, not because there are more games being added, but because nostalgia hasn't kicked in yet.

Don't worry I'm sure they'll continue to make "remasters" and "hd" ports
That'd be fine and dandy if they'd release all the PS2 games.
Its the only grudge i have against Ps4, got one because my ps3 died, now all my ps3 games are useless plastic trash
My brother has recently (as in a year ago) started playing games again after a long break. He's been using the backward compatibility to play most of my old games slowly. It's a great feature and having a low usage rate is to be expected. The people who care about the old games probably have the old consoles, those who are newly into games or only care about the new don't give a shit about old games, that doesn't mean backward compatibility shouldn't be supported though.
I haven't turned on my ps4 in over a year but I play my ps3 games daily. It would be really nice to not have an extra console taking up space since I rarely even touch it.
Man, I can have virtually double the amount of games on my XB1 and feel satisfied because of BWC. I got back into Red Dead redemption again thanks to BWC and that game is popping online. Got all my favorite Assassin's Creed games and still plenty of room for more games. I'm ecstatic over having the opportunity to enjoy classics again.
now that y'all mentioned it, dragons dogma is to BWC.

The emulation is trash imo, buy a 360 on ebay instead if you wanna play 360 games.

I've seen zero issues. Its actually really good considering it's running an entire 360 in software.

I'd have to disagree, all the games I've played run fine.

Not only that, but often the framerate is more stable than on the original Xbox360, and with Scorpio it will just get better. I think they mentioned they will enable high quality anisotropic filtering on Xbox360 games, or something like that.
Hitman Absolution runs like fucking trash through backwards compatibility and I had to launch it like 5 times before it quit giving me an error.
