• One handed games

So my dad mentioned the other day that he'd like to try to get into playing video games, and he asked me if I could recommend any for him. Here's the catch: His right arm is paralyzed as the result of a motorcycle accident he had when he was 18. As you would imagine, this puts a bit of a restriction on what games he can feasibly play. Have you guys got any recommendations for some that he could play well and enjoy?
Age of empires II HD or III ? Those are reknowned strategy games, I spent hours on them, you only need a mouse to play it
Pokemon Red/Blue
Super Deep Thr- You could PROBABLY set something simple like Half-Life up to just use the keyboard, with everything in hand's reach. I'm pretty sure it has keybinds to control the camera.
If he got one of those mice with a few more buttons I'm pretty sure he could play Diablo 3.
Any RTS games. All you require is a mouse to play. I recommend Dawn of War/Dawn of War: Dark Crusade.
osu! :v:
As an honest suggestion also, perhaps it might be worth investing in a speedpad of some kind and teaching him how to use it? Since they are designed to bring all the common buttons to one hand. It would allow him to play some faster paced games like Super Meat boy for example with the one hand.

Is that a thumb stick on the side, or something that would let him look around at all?

Any tycoon/simulation type game would do.
I'd highly recommend Company of Heroes to him, he'll have a blast
If consoles are an option, a few PS1 era RPGs can be played 1 handed. Only ones I can recall off the top of my head that this was a thing are Suikoden 1 and 2. There even was a special controller meant just for RPGs that was one handed too.
The original Command & Conquer is now freeware
House of the Dead: Overkill for the Wii. Resident Evil: The umbrella Chronicles for the Wii (Unless you have Playstation move). It is abit awkward to control but Doom can be played with the mouse, move it left, right, forward or back to go left, right, forward or back and the mouse buttons shoot. [editline]29th November 2013[/editline] Also try The Sims and Plants VS Zombies.
DDR [editline]nohands[/editline] that's a no-handed game
might be possible to play FPS games with eg. a razer naga. he'd have to bind w, a, s and d etc. to the mouse numpad keys. i have no idea how well it would work though.

Mouse = Move LMB = Shoot RMB = Strafe (You move the mouse while holding it to strafe.) MMB = Use Mousewheel = select weapons I've tested this method playing through KDITD and it worked fine for me. Of course, you can just change strafe to move forward if you don't mind.
Cookie Clicker
There are plenty of racing games you can play one handed, and many platformers with simple controls would work nicely as well.
The Total War series can be played one handed, all the commands can be clicked on with the in-game GUI rather than using hotkeys.
The new XCOM reboot with Enemy Within is definitely recommended.
this may sound funny but this was a serious thing my dad and i did when he was alive. He used to suck at fps games, still loved war games so we pretty much split the controls up, one would play with the mouse and the other use the keyboard. Shit was hilarious, needless to say we lost a lot. You may try that out if hes in the mood.

Show him some of the Sierra and Lucasarts point-and-click games.
Is there any type of genre he enjoys or could possibly be into?
The Myst series, if he's the adventure game type. It is all point and click.
Any Total War game
