Well, anyway. My Razer carcharias has been with me for months and it has stopped working. Not completely:- people on ventrilo tell me they can hear themselves through my microphone, yet nothing I say gets through. All sound recorder records is a low humming noise and windows sounds. Can anyone help me with this? I've restarted countless times, checked I/O and reinstalled my sound card drivers, yet this is still a persistent problem. The actual headphones work fine, just the microphone is broken.
Have you looked at your recording device, if you click the speaker down beside the clock.
You've somehow set Stereo Mix as the recording device. Go to the controls for the recording devices and see if it's set as teh default instead of your microphone.
Nope, it's all set to the normal settings (microphone as the recording device). I haven't messed with the settings for months. It just suddenly randomly stopped working, I wasn't even on any settings. Should I start looking for a new headset?
Well, download Audacity, and select Microphone as the recording device. See if it works there. There may be a few other tests to try if that doesn't work, so I wouldn't give up completely yet.
