Shotguns. The best guns in any video game. Fact.
Having a satisfying shotgun is one of the most important things I look for in an FPS. So, what are some of your all time favorite video game shotguns?
Halo has had some of my favorite most satisfying shotties in any FPS. There's just something I love about a shotgun with the mag over the barrel.

Just Cause 2 did a very good job with shotguns feeling powerful.

I wouldn't call a weapon that can instakill a Scrake useless.

Well its fairly useless against large hordes.
And most of the time I ditch it for the weight it takes up.
Just for that ability to 1 shot a couple guys.

If you are using it off perk, yeah. But it is actually wonderful against the large hordes too if you manage to place your shots well thanks to the penetration bonus of support. Of course my love of SxS shotguns makes this argument a bit biased, but the thing has one of the highest damage spikes in the game.
If you want to see a really useless weapon that is actually heavy and costly, look at Sharpshooter's M99.
