At my home we just got a new router, i need to set up wireless printing to my parents PC. OS: Linux mint 11 Kataya Printer: HP Deskjet 3050 ALL-IN-ONE J610 SERIES I really need a step-by-step guide, i am a moron at this. I have done it before, i don't remember how exactly and it was configured on a website. Please help me Facepunch! EDIT: I figured out i did it trough CUPS last time. But then my router had all acces. I don't know my Username and Password to add a new printer.
If it's a wireless printer, you normally need to setup the printer so it connects to the wireless network. Once it's connected you can install it like any other networked printer. I will test it out! ATM i love you man. [editline]Edited:[/editline] Okay so i installed the correct version and all, i have a folder on my desktop now called HPLIP 3.12.2. What now? I am still confused a lot, when i installed it asked me if my distro was right and all, then suddenly when i said yes it typed a tons of letters/numbers and closed, and i got that folder. I also ran the code:
dpkg -l hplip
And it told me that i had HPLIP installed, so i must have done something right. All i need now is to know how to make it "contact" my printer so i can print. I know it sounds easy but i need some step-by-step guides. (pictures could help)
I set up my printer a few days ago, so Ill make a tutorial for ya.
This seems like a proper set of instruction: http://bobpeers.com/linux/hp_printing
My system is Arch, but it should still be the same procedure. 1) Start the setup. If you get an Unknown Command error, reinstall HPLIP (sudo apt-get install hplip) 2) Choose network printer. afaik, the wireless option sucks. Optionally, fill in the rest of the info and check 'send test page'
