This is what the screen looks like now Is it the screen or is it something else?
Do you have a case? Because i've dropped my 2nd Gen like 20 times and it still works like the day i bought it, hell i even dumped a glass of straw berry milk on it and dropped it in a tub of water...
Ye I have a case Actually its my friends So I'm not sure whats happened to it [editline]10:23PM[/editline] Would this be cause by dropping it?
When I dropped my iPhone it did the exact same thing. What happened is that the cable that connects the screen to the unit is loose, so either repair it yourself (search online) or try your luck at the Apple store, although you most likely will have to buy a new one because Apple doesn't like to open up the iPod to fix one wire. Luckily for me, the manager came to help me, and I got a new one for free. Hope this helps.
Are you in the monochrome/inverted color mode? Those colors look exactly like the ones i get in that.
That is what the screen looks like when I turn it on So should I open it up and look at the wiring and make sure a wire didn't come loose?
Just return it.
Its a 1st gen and I'm pretty sure it's out of warranty

The ribbon cable is damaged or misplaced. It's the cable that connects the screen to the motherboard. looks like this Open it up and try reseating it. If not, you have to buy another ribbon cable/screen
