Question, I'm selling some phones on eBay and want to have them unlocked. The baseband on them is completely screwed up. Both phones were updated to 4.0 then downgraded back to 3.1.3 leaving the 4.0 BB. I already screwed up the unlock once, which lead to refunds, and I don't want that to happen again. So is 4.2.1 stable and not a battery guzzler anymore on 3G's?
no but its pretty laggy
i have an ipod touch 2g on 4.0, i've removed a shitload of mobile daemons and i had to jailbreak it so i could manually clear the memory randomly since it would freeze up or lag in games unless i cleared it up beforehand
4.1 and 4.2 didn't do anything in terms of optimization iirc so it's the same thing on essentially the same device.
I use 4.2 on my 3G and it's pretty laggy. Not unusable, just annoyingly slow at times.
Tempted to go back to 3x.
according to my friend his 3g is "better than an iphone 4" because of the update
what a fucking dink
I upgraded from 3.1.2 to 4.2 and didn't notice any difference, it's been slightly laggy and unstable all the time in both iPhone OS 3 and 4 for me.
As others said, it's laggy.
Laggy now and then. But concerning your unlock problem, use redsn0w 0.9.7.b6 and update your phones to the 06.15 baseband. That way, you can use ultrasn0w from Cydia and unlock it.
That's what I did and it worked.
