Article states the biggest reason I'd probably get the game:
"Dambusters also decided to channel their energy into multiplayer in addition to the story-driven solo campaign. It's here, in four-player co-op mode, that I get my first hands-on with the game since Dambusters were Crytek UK.
It's a mode they're obviously keen on, and have delcared that they'll be supporting for a full year after release with free new missions. It'll feature four co-op campaigns out of the box, but Dambusters hope to extend that number into double figures by 2017."
Coop tomfoolery could save this game; but I'll still wait for reviews
Wasn't the thing Homefront suffered from was just bad gameplay, and th characters being meh. While the story, world, and the multiplayer were top notch?

Sort of. The story had an interesting premise (in my opinion), but it wasn't particularly well executed, and as you said yourself, the characters were very bland. Gameplay wasn't bad, but it didn't blow minds either.
Multiplayer was pretty good though. It had an interesting point system where you could either spend small amounts of to get more armor, rocket launchers etc., or you could save up to buy humvees, tanks, and eventually a helicopter.
The bad news is that these crates can be bought with real money, which means you can fast-track your way to the best gear if you're willing to drop some coin.
I've heard everything I need to hear.

I didn't see that line. That's like a nail in the coffin

doesn't mean I don't want them to do it right though; It just makes me less optimistic sadly

"You can optionally pay for items you'll get regardless, -1/10 worst game ever"
how reactionary are you people, maybe wait until there's evidence that it actually impacts the game in any meaningful way before judging

It very well could still be a good game. But as a consumer I don't want to countenance that kind of business model.
It's also got a 4 player co-op mode included with the game for no extra charge and a year of free DLC
But that doesn't matter I guess

Doesn't battlefield do the same thing?
i'd liken it to mass effect more than battlefield
a coop only game with a crate based loot system that you can earn via ingame money or microtransactions
Mass Effect 3's crate purchasing is the model to follow imo, you get crates regularly enough to make playing for them a perfectly viable choice, but they're randomized, so you get that almost gambling-esque feeling when opening them
very very nicely done imo

I guess I've just seen it done before so much that I likened it to FTP games where you can just get the top tier stuff by paying; I didn't think it was like a random loot where you can still get shitty guns. I guess I'll wait to judge it more. Also come on.. I even said 2 posts above that regardless I'm gonna wait for reviews to decide if I'll play it

I posted that, first post? I like that aspect I don't get your point bringing that up again like I didn't acknowledge it
unless you were only responding to Hamaflavian
the key is that this is a coop game, i really don't see having low-tier loot really making gameplay worse (provided that it isn't heavily rpg influenced and has spongey enemies in accordance with your guns/level or whatever)
Yeah that's true, much more like mass effect and the crates in that like you said. I like how the gameplay looks so far and I need a new coop game.

If it's better than I'm expecting then I'm still not getting it.
