• Windows 7 Premium, Professional or Ultimate?

Hey Facepunch. I'm going to buy Win7, but there's a big price difference on the different versions, so I'd like some help on what I'll be needing? I do play games, but I constantly use Photoshop, Flash, and other Adobe products. My specs: AMD 3,0 ghz quadcore 8 gb ram 1024 mb 285GTX 750 gb hdd I'm gonna get a 64 bit version, but I'm just in doubt wether to buy Premium, Professional or Ultimate.
I don't get it why people want others than Ultimate, it's the best choice with all the functions and stuff. Tell me why you people rated me box. Just do it.
If you are a student, you can get Professional for free if your college/uni has an MSDN AA site, otherwise as a student you can get professional for £30/$30 through some website. otherwise just go for home premium, you mostly likely won't need any of the higher up features, and you certainly won't need more for the tasks you listed.
Ultimate is insanely awesome and useful, i vote for ultimate
All Win7 editions besides 'Basic' come with both 32 and 64bit discs, by the way. Honestly, the features that Windows 7 Professional and Windows 7 Ultimate provide are only really for businesses or professional developers and they do not provide enough features to justify the far larger price-tag.
I'd go with professional, the ultimate features just aren't worth twenty dollars to me.
Unlike Vista, on Windows 7 the difference between Professional and Ultimate are very very few. I had Vista Ultimate, but I got Windows 7 Professional.
Yeah I thought about getting Professional, but I'd like to hear what you guys thought.

According to Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_7_editions) and Microsoft (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/compare/default.aspx) there's not much that you will miss if you buy "Home Premium" instead of "Professional". Better save the money and buy "Home Premium" or, if you are in a university, get "Professional" free from MSDNAA.
I don't think you'll need more than Premium.
What is an "OEM" version??
Well your defo gonna have to get the 64bit one because 32 bit doest recognise ram over 4gb :P
@jamzzster agree. @everyone that is like "Just Get Ultimate" people do have credit scores you know. And getting it cracked is not acceptable (no updates :ZZZ) @Ferosso i never really saw the use in buying anything over home premium (unless you are a dev of corse) especially for what you will be doing.
What is an "OEM" version??

What is OEM? OEM stands for Original Equipment Manufacturer, and most often refers to the likes of Dell or Gateway. At least originally, "OEM versions" of products were usually the same products that you'd find at retail, but with no-frills packaging, reduced support, and sometimes lesser warranties.
SAUCE: http://arstechnica.com/hardware/news/2007/01/8730.ars
PRofessional is very worth it
PRofessional is very worth it
Seconded, although I have the Ultimate version on this computer (Technet ftw).
Ultimate is the overpriced version of Pro for people who like black boxes and need the "top of the line" version
