My parents use AT&T, and about 2 months ago our internet died for about a week, we had to order their shitty 2wire router and hook it up for them to even come to our house. So the technician made one of our ethernet ports so we dont have to use a filter. We cant use any other router now for some reason, because they dont even get a internet connection, so we're stuck with their 2wire router. My problem is that the router randomly stops transmitting signals to any devices for like 10 seconds at a time, usually 2 times in a row. The worst part is it happens around 100 times a day. Imagine playing a online game and getting disconnected every 10 mins. The worst part is Crysis 2 is buggy so if you d/c mid game you lose all xp gained that game. Anyone have a clue on thats happening, please help!
Call them up tell them what's wrong and threaten to switch to another company that promises a reliable connection. If they try to call your bluff switch companies. Also fuck corporations that don't give you what you're paying for.
We told them before whats wrong and they said they fixed it, I guess I can see if my parents will call them and threaten to change, AT&T sucks anyway. Hell we should just change.
You should be able to configure another router manually, unless they use MAC filtering. If you have another router laying around, take note of the Default gateway, IP address, DNS Address and subnet settings in the WAN section of the shitty 2wire router. Then, when you plug that other router in, go in and manually configure each field with the IP's you got from the shitty 2wire router. Maybe it could work. If you need help doing this don't hesitate to ask, it sounds intimidating but really its a walk in the park.
You should really get off AT&T. Horrid ISP.
