• Downgrade my iPod touch 3g 64 gb from 3.1.3 back to 3.1.2?

My idiot cousin had borrowed my iPod for a road trip and handed it back to me after, saying "You should really keep this thing updated, I put it at the latest version for you." to which I was like "FFFUUUUUUUUCCCCCKKKK!!!" because there is apparently a stable non-tethered jailbreak coming out for 3.1.2 on the iPod touch 3g. I have tried every thing I can think of, but to no avail. I seem to be stuck with 3.1.3 firmware because Apple maliciously made it where you cannot downgrade using the normal 'shift+click' restore thing in iTunes.
I hope this help but, i'll try: All you do here is pick what model you got, download the isw (lol?) and put it in you folder, (you should know where that is) and follow the instructions from where ever you got it, I have done the same except the borrowing to your family member, i just upgraded and hoped for the best but i was shot down :( heres the link tho: http://www.felixbruns.de/iPod/firmware/
I had to force a corrupted jailreak using Redsn0w, so it would only show the "Connect to iTunes" picture on the screen. Then I could downgrade from 3.1.3 back to 3.1.2 without issues. I'm on a 1st gen touch, running iTunes 8.2

OP, I believe the new jailbreak will be for 3.1.3 as well as 3.1.2. Can someone confirm this?

I shift-click restored just fine yesterday

Hmm, thats awesome. I accidentally updated to 3.1.3 after I got my new iPod Touch, I'm a compulsive updater.

You can't downgrade unless you backed up your SHSH when on 3.1.2(With the Cydia app), before the February. If you didn't, there is absolutely no way to downgrade, Apple will not sign the 3.1.2 firmware, meaning it will never decrypt.
I had the updated boot rom, it comes bundled with 3.1.3. :downs:
No it doesn't. The bootloader in the 3G and late 2G models is the MC version, which checks the firmware every time you boot, hence the need to re-jailbreak on boot. It cannot be updated via software, which is why a bootrom exploit is the best kind, it can never be fixed.
