So yeah, basically what the title said. Even the glorious PC gaming master race needs a controller for some games. No, I don't own a Xbox 360, or this'd be much easier, the bastard's controllers are $60 brand new depending on where you're buying down here. I've been using the PS3 controller for the time being, but honestly the D-pad and buttons are a bit garbage for what I'd like and I've been wanting a dedicated PC controller. and not something second-hand. So yeah, I've got one in mind if it came down to it but I was hoping to get some recommendations, they'd be much appreciated. Preferably Xbox styled in joystick placement, but I'm not picky.
How much are you willing to pay and what functionality do you need? You could get a fightpad if all you need is some buttons and a d-pad Mighty Ape has SFxT fightpads for $27 inc shipping [editline]1st July 2013[/editline] You can also get 360 controllers for $40 with free shipping from Ozgameshop if you're willing to wait 7-9 days for it to come.
I've got a Logitech F710, it's xbox styled and has xinput for most modern games. Plus it can be set to direct input mode and function as a standard pc gamepad. The quality is pretty much as good as a 360 controller, and you can get them for around $50 iirc. It doesn't feel cheap, the buttons are perfect and has a nice weight to it. Only downside is the 360 controller style D-Pad. You can get a newer model for 40 dollars or a non-wireless possibly older version for 20 dollars.

I just wanted to be sure of its build quality. What's the D-pad like? I generally don't trust circle pads.

I have a Logitech f310, similar to the one above. I bought for 25 bucks and use it primarily for emulation. It's pretty cheap and overall a decent controller.
