I saw this deal and I wanted facpunch to see it too, I know it's off brand but I'm using one right now and the cable sleeves are awesome, I also tested it with my trusty voltmeter and all of it's ratings are accurate. I just thought you guys might want a heads up, also newegg's free shipping took exactly three days which is damn good enough for me. I got it on black friday for 34.99 with free shipping. Seems to have a lot of DOA and early deaths.
Seems to have a lot of DOA and early deaths.
The trend shows that was when it was first on newegg, so far this guy is pretty stable and most recent reviews say the same thing.

PSU BUDDY! :neckbeard:
High wattage + low price isn't always a good thing. You specifically need to look out for shitty PSU brands because if the PSU fucks up, it's taking the rest of your computer to hell with it.
I think you may as well get a known brand then you know your Hardware is safe.
PSU BUDDY! :neckbeard:
congrats, your name goes with your psu.
There's a thread somewhere on facepunch, with a list of bad PSU brands, and if I remember right, HEC is under the kaboom jihad ones.
congrats, your name goes with your psu.
hahha
There's a thread somewhere on facepunch, with a list of bad PSU brands, and if I remember right, HEC is under the kaboom jihad ones.
I just "upgraded" my PSU from a OCZ 600w SLI/CF PSU to a Coolermaster 520w SLI/CF as the OCZ fan was rattaling so baddly you could here it downstairs in a big house, appaerntly it always happened after 2years of use to other customers aswell. THe coolermaster is silent, and is very cool, and is modular which is even better as I only need 2-3cables plugged in :v:
See the whole thing about my computer is it's full of offbrand shit, for example I have a SINGLE core processor rated for like 2.20ghz to 3.50 ghz, I have 2.5gb of DDR ram, my video card is the only semi okay thing that's an ati radeon 4650 1gb model. If my computer asplodes i'll just build a new one, since I'm working towards that anyways.
Question: Is Chieftec a reliable PSU manufacturer? I've heard they're pretty good, but want das Facepunch opinion.
I got one of them 580W hec for an earlier build that included integrated graphics and a E2180 still going strong to the person I buildt it for. but first it was doa
No product is perfect.Even the great brands have issues. I personally buy the better known brand simply, because they have a higher trusted rate not to be defective or become defective.
Dual fan PSUs scream cheap and unreliable to me. Also loud
There's a thread somewhere on facepunch, with a list of bad PSU brands, and if I remember right, HEC is under the kaboom jihad ones.
Haha, I remember ROFLing at that thread for such a long time. The worst PSU category was something like "OH SWEET JESUS STAY THE FUCK FUCK FUCK AWAY brands" :v:
the box looks so cheesy
the box looks so cheesy
Would you rather it be pink with rainbows and daises on?
Would you rather it be pink with rainbows and daises on?
This is an untapped market.
