What kind of bands do you guys like of the genre "Melodic Death Metal"
OPETH, although thats more progressive
Scar Symmetry.
Anything else sounds quite repetitive for me.
Too bad their new clean singer can't sing.
Insomnium, Be'lakor, Ensiferum, Eluveitie, Norther.
Bands like Insomnium are easily the best style. I don't really like In Flames style stuff, I think it's pretty shit (exception for Norther :v:)
Insomnium:

They're absolutely fantastic. Be'lakor are of a similar style, but Insomnium are just on a level of their own.
Be'lakor:

Norther:

No, Fast Threads is the place for threads of this type.
Insomnium, Scar Symmetry(although it's so generic), In Flames(BOORING), Opeth, Kalmah, Wintersun, Mors Principium Est
Heartwork - Carcass

Ah yesss Carcass are pretty brilliant.
Also, Hypocrisy.

I'm surprised nobody said Amon Amarth.
I'm no big fan of them personally, but I thought they were quite popular in this scene.
I'm surprised no one has Children of Bodom or As I Lay Dying. Both being good choices
Wintersun are pretty good.
Indeed, shame about the whole "4 years to release their next album" thing

It's viking metal. And pretty ridicilous too.
They're melodic death/Viking metal, they're both.
And they are pretty awesome
Insomnium
In Flames
Dark Tranquility
Eluveitie (has elements of it)
Be'lakor
Hypocrisy
Opeth
And Amon Amarth think of themselves as melodeath but write viking themed lyrics.
Kalmah, Wintersun.
Soilwork and MyGRAIN are good too.

Yeah, and being ridicilous is so distinctive in metal.
Amon Amarth, Arch Enemy mostly.
I have heard of pretty much every band people have mentioned. But I have something REALLY good for you. A band called Eternal Tears of Sorrow. Just listen to a few of their songs, best melodeath ive ever heard, I quarantee you will like it. Another good band is called Dark Flood, their songs are really hard to find though.
Kalmah

their new album is a masterpiece of music.
Arch Enemy

Amon Amarth

Amon Amarth is not "viking metal". Not even close.
Viking metal is a name for black/folk metal bands with viking-themed lyrics. Amon Amarth is melodic death metal.
Mygrain
[QUOTE=STeel;22364716]Scar Symmetry.

Well, Lars is really good, but Christian was the best in my opinion.
Yeah, I think Christian was better as well.
Also, Wintersun :slick:
They don't really have any specific genre, but melodic death fits reasonably well :v:
At The Gates (shame on you facepunch)
Dark Tranquillity
Imperanon
Souldrainer
Children of Bodom.
I love children (of Bodom)!
In Flames
Soilwork
All That Remains
Children of Bodom
Arch Enemy
^^^ Sorted in order of how much I like them, In Flames being my favourite, Arch Enemy being my least favourite
