Hello Yesterday I got a new TV, Today i got my Bell HDTV Receiver working but now any SD show (Even some Commercials on HD channels) show up cropped. Like this Is there any to fix this problem? Also many videos arent widescreen (On my SD Receiver it automatically went to widescreen)
Two things to try. One, see if your television has an aspect ratio setting. Mine has "Normal", "Zoom", "Full", and "Just". Yours appears to be set to "normal", set it to "full" or "just". (Keep in mind these are the settings that Panasonic uses, LG probably uses different terminology.) Two, consult the manual for your cable box to see if it has some kind of SD upscaling feature that isn't currently enabled.
I set my ratio, it's still the same. I cant find anything in my user guide about upscaling either :/
Thought I might as well update this for you guys who have the same problem. These buttons on the remote will bring up a menu so you can adjust the amount of zoom to make the picture show fullscreen.
That's normal on HD channels. That's because they are broadcasting a widescreen picture to the TV but the actual video material is only standard definition. Example from my TV: [img_thumb]http://i286.photobucket.com/albums/ll87/Demache/819b8a93.jpg[/img_thumb] This our local NBC affiliate, KDLT. They do not broadcast the local news in HD. Notice how the TV recognizes that its receiving an HD widescreen signal (its says 1080i in the on screen information) but its not aware that the show is actually standard definition and thinks the black bars are part of the show. Its not something wrong with any of your equipment. Its an inherent flaw in the method of how many broadcasters send standard definition programming on HD channels. [editline]10:14PM[/editline] When you had you SD receiver, it was sending a 4:3 (square) picture to the TV so the TV could stretch it. But now the TV is receiving a HD signal from your new receiver, so it assumes the black bars on the side are actually part of the show. So the stretching has to be done on the receiver. But now that you fixed it, good for you.
