Hi everyone, i am having a problem with my new build computer that i hope you guys can help me out with.
I have the following in the computer
Motherboard - msi P67A-C43
CPU- Intel Core i5 2500k
Graphic card - XFX 4870
Power supply - Antec 620W something somethign
RAM: 8GB Gskill 1333
I just built a new pc and powered it up, but when it turns on it takes me straight to a black screen that says the following...
EFI Shell version 2.00[4.640]
Current running mode 1.1.2
map: cannot find required map name.
Press ESC in _ seconds to skip startup.nsh, any other key to continue.
Shell>
When I reseat the RAM it lets me boot into the BIOS but I cannot do anything else. I've done a memory check on the RAM through the BIOS and it says it's ok.
I've tried booting without the Hard drive, same problem.
Please help..
Sounds like there's a problem with the BIOS. I would try calling MSI with that error code. It might need to be replaced.
Now my computer is turning on and off after I adjusted my CPU overclock...

Well, it's odd because last night I didn't have a SATA dvd drive so I had to go out and get that and I was stuck on the Boot from CD screen. Now this pops up after I get the DVD drive in. Did it die out over night?
Reset the BIOS to default settings. Also try unplugging the DVD drive if you still can't get it to boot.
Also, what are you setting the BCLK to?
Tried unplugging the DVD drive. When I reseat the RAM I'm prompted with whether I want to go to the BIOS or start up the system with the default BIOS settings with the same error.
Also BCLK = BIOS clock?

Fixed... I'd rather not say the answer because it's rather embarressing but I've never used SATA DVD/Hard drive before. So I thought the AC/Data was all on the SATA cord.. I was wrong, so I used the cords I had tucked away and PLUGGED IT IN . LOL.
Yeah... Don't be stupid, like me.

Yeah, I gave myself some time to upgrade.

BCLK = Base Clock, not BIOS.

No computer component uses AC, everything is DC. That's why computers have switching power supplies, to turn mains power into different voltages of DC. In the case of a SATA drive, it uses +12v, +5v, +3.3v and GND.
