better than 1, but not as good as 3, that's for sure still does shit a lot better than 3 though. Magic is actually possible to use in PVP and you can still punish estus chuggers.
Slow as fuck gameplay though. I'm glad Dark Souls 3 plays blazing fast.

DkS1 is the best of the three.
Opinions will sway massively depending on players, I personally find Dark Souls 2 to be a far, far better *game* than any other souls games, as it offers a lot more tools for replayability and playstyles, it is however by far the weakest of all souls games when it comes to attention to detail in its design (since it's designed with Point A -> point B and little detail in its world like its predecessor). Not to mention it's the only souls game that actually puts thought into its NG+ experience with new enemies & items, it's also the best souls game you can play mindlessly because of the Soul Memory (which is a big hiccup for any sort of meta, meaning people just play whatever whenever wherever for the most part), it's possible with a ring to stay at a certain soul memory but it's honestly not a great great experience for those who want to play on a more even playing field ala DS1 / 3.

Even unarmed/fist builds are viable in PVP.
More playstyle variety but the underlying mechanics are rather frustrating. A good game, but definitely the weakest souls game
This game pisses me off and it's needlessly frustrating and painful. DS1 was challenging and fair, DS2 is unfair and punishes the player for no damn reason and has parts that make you question who the fuck thought this was a good idea, especially since SOTFS is their second attempt at making the game. That being said, I am enjoying this game and recommend it
DS1 is on sale as well, by the way. In my opinion, DS2 is the weakest of the series and SotfS fixes a few problems with the base game but makes others considerably worse.
This is an absolutely great game for anyone who wants to play the series for the first time. All the dlcs are included with updated graphics. This game has tons of gameplay value, especially with that insane amount of content. It's really a steal and I definitely recommend it to anyone who is even barely interested in the series. This might be a bit of a tangent but as an adherent of the series, I have fond memories of playing this game. It gets quite a bit of flak from the community but it's perhaps the best rounded souls experience, especially for multiplayer. The sheer amount of content really elevates the replayability. Gameplay is pretty great despite feeling a lot different from the first game. The lore itself was also pretty targeted by the community which is also a bit undeserved, a lot of people criticized the rehash of major plot elements of the first game but honestly the game really tried to vary up the locations and innovate in terms of locations. Which makes it one of my favorite games, it honestly surpasses Dark Souls 3 in my opinion. DkS3 had tons of areas that feel just way to similar to the first game without really trying to create something new, it was far less enjoyable to explore the areas.
