Wait, so they retroactively locked content to force people to buy an expansion? Because that is seriously fucked
nice cool you cant just make it basically coldheart but red, just gonna make it effectively useless until an update in probably march i see
Adjusting simple damage number values isn't an easy task for a small indie dev like bungie, it takes time, go easy on them
bungie did something similar with halo 3 if i recall correctly, where a number of playlists including most of the ranked playlists were locked out to people who didn't have all the map packs. this is technically nothing new for them all things considered
Why can't they just have it where if you don't own the expansion it puts you in a different map? As far as I'm aware people who don't own the expansion can still get all the new stuff anyways. Or if they really do want only one map per mode, just add a separate mode using exclusively the expansion content. Paying $40 to MAYBE be able to play certain playlists is shady as fuck when your progression hinges on them. They probably want to actually test it (this time around) and make sure it gets balanced properly. What's the point of just tossing half-assed changes that already got them in hot water once? I think it's the right move. The gun being blatantly broken was definitely a lazy oversight, but nothing to throw a fit about. The content locking can't be anything but a deliberate decision. That is where people need to throw a fit.
Didn't this shit happen in the 1st destiny where pretty much every single added mission was locked behind DLC?
Sure it’s fun
This is the most infuriating part of that tweet. They admit that it's fun. It's the most fun the Crucible's been since launch. Their fuck-up was a show of what could be if they'd quit being so shitty and locked-down with the Crucible, and now they're killing it off in favor of the exact same handcannon-dominated Crucible the playerbase has been shitting on since launch.
on the flip side, i thought it was the most unfun the crucible has ever been the novelty wears off after 1 round when you realize the netcode is total dogshit and you just die from behind walls and seconds after getting into cover
So like most modern shooters and their netcode? Even Halo wasn't completely exempt from this.

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Good thing I avoided this game.
