Title. /thread.
Both are at the same price. What do folks? And Why?
They're very similar in performance

The 6970 has more VRAM but this doesn't seem to make any difference even at 1080p. I'd go for the 570 as it supports PhysX
if you're going for a single monitor, 570
if you're going for multiple monitors or a large res like 2560x1600, 6970 but on might not have the power

PhysX is a gimmick. Not many games even use that technology, so it isn't even worth it to get the 570 if you are getting it for that reason.
Been a ATI/AMD guy, since the 4870 came out.
4890 was pretty damn sweet too.
I got the 6970 now, and it runs GREAT. Not a single problem with it, and it handles temperatures very well. Mine peaks at 60 degrees celsius, while stressing out at 1000MhZ but i have two huge fans on it at 120cm, making it a triple bracket graphics card.
Can't say much about the 570, i never had one.
But i know the 580 runs great.
Anyway, that's what i could say about the 6970
Been a nVidia guy since 9800GTX+ days. I waited a long time to upgrade, and chose the 570.
It's handles temperatures extremely well. Peaks around 60c while idling around 38c. And just because physX isn't all that popular doesn't make it less worth it. I would go 570 because it seems to pull ahead ever so slightly in games than the 6970.
I have a gtx570. I peak at 85c with the witcher 2 1920x1080, everything maxed and on except ubersampling, and get on average 70fps. I idle somewhere around 30-35c.
The 6970, is probably equally as good. They both handle things differently.
http://www.gpureview.com/show_cards.php?card1=640&card2=638
the 6970 draws more power, and is louder.
In the end it's your call, i would have to say the 570 though.
6970 is sadly the slightly more expensive hooker that isn't bought much because she's not better than the others. It has it's purpose, though.
Look what 4 days in Amsterdam have done to me.

570 is faster, but draws more/is louder/hotter
6970 is better if you want to run 2+ monitors off a single card or want to benefit from having 2GB VRAM, if you don't, get a GTX 570

Huh, well okay then. I was just going off of what i linked. I can't even hear my videocard at all, not that volume really matters to me.
I'm thinking of getting the 6970 because I love GTA 4, but the game uses assloads of VRAM... especially with the visual mods...
I heard the 6970 was buggy in GTA IV.

only has issues in crossfire(for me, at least)

Did you get high yet :v:
Did you get high yet :v:
Not allowed for tourists, and walking in the street is enough for me anyway. Nice place, really.
6850 > all
For the price you pay, it is so good it makes me cream my shorts.

Really? I should start following the news more often, i thought that wasn't applicable in the whole country yet.
2GB Sapphire 6950, then flash to 6970, best deal you could get, i ahve it and it has been flashed for about 6 months, never had any problems but got a decent fps boost (10-50 fps)

You can't flash them anymore idiot.

You will be hard pressed to find an actual reference 6950 that will flash.

You just need to find a Rev1, but the only place you will find these are probably ebay (Which are probably open boxes) or local tech shops that still have one in stock.

Exactly. The only ones that flashed are basically completely bought out or on auction sites like you said.

I didn't plan on such thing anyway. Red light district was a much nicer place than I expected, really.
You can't flash them anymore idiot.
a few of my friends have bought them, the most recent just 2 days ago and we mnaged to flahs that, it even has the switch with the 2 bioses

Ive seen heaps at the stores, as i sad most of them still come wiht the switch wiht the 2 bioses. MY friend bought one a few days ago and he could flash it easy
I have always been a AMD guy, I rather their processors then intel, and would chose their cards over competitors.
When it comes between the 6970 and the GTX570, its most likely the best idea to go to the review sites.

So basicly, the 570 tops in most cases.
I have another sugjestion. For the same price as a 6970, you can get dual 6850's which would produce much more power for the same price.
I found this online:

Plus, that bench looks like bull imo.

Fanboy? I clearly stated that the 570 tops the 6970. The bench is real, and 2 graphics cards are always better then one if its for the same price.

And down the long road 2 570s would smash 2 6850's obviously.

This article shows that dual 6850's top the GTX580, and for the same price, I think the Dual 6850's are a better deal.

Well yeah, but buying 2 of them would cost alot wouldn't it? More performance for the same price is a better deal imo.

Unless you want to play WOW apparently, its terrible and the 580 kicks their asses. :v:
