I've grown weary of having only 1gb of RAM, and have convinced my mum to purchase more.
Unfortunately, due to my lack of knowledge I am unsure of which RAM to get. I know it's DDR2, but what type of DDR2 will give me the best performance.
Also, because I suck I'd like some instructions on how to install the ram.
And will the new RAM be compatible with the old, etc can I combine them?

Due to me living in the UK I cannot use Newegg or TigerDirect. I'm looking on OverclockersUK.
Limit is £40. Your help is greatly appreciated, as this POS is the best computer I've ever owned and I'd like to actually be able to play games from after 2001.

Lift the pins, push the ram in, tada!
RAM needs to be forced in, that sucks. It is almost like breaking the motherboard but it will not. Just watch and see that the cuts under are at the same place.
Is your GPU really 78 C idle? Huh...
Oh god the 8400GS.
I have a rig with a 8400GS.
I've upgraded since that rig. Twice.
Let me guess, you can about run TF2 on all low?
RAM is going to help with multitasking but you're not going to get any performance out of that turd.
Haven't tried TF2, didn't think it would run. Most taxing game I've tried Is Stalker: Soc, which runs on the lowest settings, but with unbearable stuttering.
Then why waste money on ram,buy a new gpu.
For your resolution, with this gpu you could pretty much max out most of the games out there

BUT: 1GB of RAM is also shit,so if you could just go with 2gb kit and that gpu it would be nice.

Except upgrading the RAM from 1GB to 4GB offers a huge performance boost for ~$40, while good graphics cards start at ~$350.
Get the 4GB kit I linked to you, or buy some cheap two 1gb sticks.

I'd be surprised if he was capable of maxing out Half Life 2, let alone "every game out there"
