Btw, this is the first time I am building a computer.
Budget: £500-£600
Don't need: OS and peripherals (mouses and stuff).
I will be using 1920x1080 resolution.
It also has to be better than my current spec:
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E6850 @ 3.00GHz (2 CPUs), ~3.0GHz
Memory: 4096MB RAM DDR2 800mhz
Hard Drive: 400 GB
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX
Motherboard: Asus P5Q-E
Thank you.

Can it not be cheaper? Or would it be, more or less, the same specs as mine? My budget is only between 500-600.

Not much more, has twice the storage.
Drop the RAM and get an AM2+ motherboard so he can just reuse his RAM.

If you drop the RAM and get an AM2+ motherboard, you can reuse your RAM and save a bunch of money.

Get this and save a bunch of money as well.
How much of a difference is there between my 800mhz DDR2 ram and if I buy the 1333mhz DDR3 ram?
How much of a difference is there between my 800mhz DDR2 ram and if I buy the 1333mhz DDR3 ram?
Not a noticeable difference in gaming. It's just a bonus to have DDR3 instead of DDR2.
I increased my budget to under £700 and changed a few components from what you've selected Falco. I removed the optical drive as I can just take it out from my current one. I considered buying a radeon card as I heard it was better for the price, and that in the future I could crossfire it incase I wanted more performance.
(* means unchanged)
HD: Samsung SpinPoint F3 500GB*
RAM: Corsair 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 1333MHz*
CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition Socket AM3 3.2 GHz*
PSU: Corsair 650W TX Series PSU - 120mm Fan, 80+% Efficiency, Single +12V Rail
GPU: Gigabyte Radeon HD 5850 1GB GDDR5 Dual DVI HDMI Display Port Out PCI-E Graphics Card
Case: Antec 300
Mobo: Asrock motherboard M3A785GXH/128M Socket AM3 DDR3 ATX
Total: £660~
Could you please check if the components would work with each other?
Thanks.
Sorry forgot about my OS: Windows 7 64bit
bump

What website are you using? Also, just listing the links would be a better format. Anyway, the build looks solid. I'm not sure about Asrock. Maybe another user might be able to verify whether it is good or not. I'll try to list another build, and don't forget to give us links for those parts.

I'm pretty sure ASRock makes good mobos.
Here are the links:
HD: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/146252 Samsung SpinPoint F3 500GB
RAM: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/178943 Corsair 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 1333MHz
CPU: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/190673 AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition Socket AM3 3.2 GHz
GPU: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/222098 HIS HD 5850 iCooler 1GB GDDR5 Dual DVI HDMI Display Port Out PCI-E Graphics Card WithCall Of Duty Game
Case: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/177749 CM Storm Scout incl. PSU (changed my mind about the antec 300, it's not big enough).
Mobo: http://www.microdirect.co.uk/Home/Product/42180 Asrock motherboard M3A785GXH/128M Socket AM3 DDR3 ATX
That ends up around £670~
Can someone check the above build if it's good enough? e.g. if the mobo would fit in the case, if the graphics card is good enough, etc.
That looks good.
