Bought it for the 360 after hearing good stuff about it. Honestly I do love this game so much, it's a great console title and an absolute blast to play in local coop. Can't recommend this game enough.
People always say that Torchlight 2 is the Diablo 3 that we didn't get, I beg to differ. The gameplay is amazing.

as I hear it the console version (apart from the controls I suppose?) is pretty much what D3 should've been

Isn't that why the new lead designer is porting the changes over from the console to the PC? I haven't heard news of it since before Reaper of Souls.
Now just give us a damn Reaper of Souls date for consoles.

Yeah because Diablo 3 was built for Consoles, you can tell it was dumbed down a metric fuckton from Diablo 2, and the UI was practically built for consoles.

Yeah, just like Guild Wars 2

I don't know how got that idea, Blizzard decided really late to do an actual console port of the game and it wasn't even entirely sure. The gameplay and skills are more streamlined but honestly the system allows for some major flexibility. It's far more interesting than Torchlight, Titan Quest or Path of Exile.

it was dumbed down, but claiming it was "built for consoles" means you are hilariously uninformed

In terms of gameplay the only real differences is lack of Battle.net (hence no always online) and the dodge to make up for the fact that you are moving on analogue sticks.
Supposedly the console versions also have better loot drops but PC is getting an entire revamp in the Reaper of Souls patch. The gameplay between both versions are pretty much exact.

Yeah except for the part that they spent months reworking the UI for the console versions so it looks entirely different from the PC version?
I still really wish they had found a way to make the old rune system work.

Yeah, there is no battle net. Your explanation with the dodge mechanic due to the analogue stick is absolutely ridiculous. The game controls work marvelous and I prefer it over the endless clicking, it's much more enjoyable. The dodge roll is kind of a great way to evade but it's not that reliable.
The loot is apparently a lot better and I do find a lot of legendaries, also local coop is pretty great. Gameplay is pretty much the same although I think that there are less enemies on the console version. Although there are still a shitload of them.

Well I was just quoting Blizzard themselves.
Well, then I'm mistaken but in my experience I really do prefer the direct controls of the game instead of mouse clicking. When I play games like Torchlight, Titan Quest or Sacred I always miss the direct control of your characters. It makes the game far more intense and it's more precise, at least for me.
How is the game better on console?

better Loot
no Battlenet or auction house
smooth and great controls
feels more intense due to the direct controls
up to 4 player same screen coop
