I've considered this: http://www.amazon.com/CIB-R401W500G8653-Network-Security-Surveillance/dp/B0034A6Y4E/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1328720532&sr=8-1. But I'm not entirely sure if I could find something that'll cost less. And I don't mind having a wired setup either, so long as the cables can reach 8m+. Any help is greatly appreciated!
Please?

If you've got a spare computer around, you could do IP cameras and store everything on the pc.
Would give you the option to make it accessable online, plus it'd be cheaper to replace parts.

Come to think of it, you could make it entirely wireless on the cheap too.
My first reaction is webcams with some sort of wired (usb has limited range, ethernet cams are expensive) or wireless connection (bluetooth or wifi) to a pc sitting in a closet somewhere with a bunch of hard drives.
Might not be cheaper than a full inclusive system like the ones posted but you'd have full freedom on the software side and quality of the cameras.

You could use a somewhat fast PC with Zoneminder and a few inexpensive IP cams.
For programs:
this works pretty well, and it's free, at least the basic version.
