• Wire caught on fire

Yeah, so my first time building computers was shot down when the wire caught on fire. I hooked everything up and it still wasn't starting. I unplugged the ATX 20+4 pin and plugged it back in. I then turned it on and pressed it a few times more and then i smelled smoke and saw the glowing light in my case. So now my 4-pin periphial or whatever wire from my PSU is fried and the one pin on my sys. fan is slighty darker and is hot as hell, and my IDE connect is most likey done since the wire was resting on it. It had 3 of those 4-pins. I connect 1 4-pin to my 140mm fan, 1 4-pin to my 120mm fan, and 1 4-pin to my CD-Drive and then at the end it connected to my system fan and connected to my MOBO. I don't know what to do. I'm about to call Cooler Master and ask them to send in a replacement but I'm not sure if I should buy a PSU with more wattage or anything else. My specs are. GIGABYTE 770UT AM3 MOBO HIS IceQ+4 4870 1GB PII X3 720 2X2 GB DDR3 Antec 300 Illusion Case Cooler Master 550w Not sure if it's the PSU even though I'm pretty positive. Really need help as my hopes and dreams of this computer went up in a blaze :C
What wire? I can't get the image to my head. Can you get a picture?
He has a 20+4 connector. The +4 pin fried, one pin to his system fan is slightly darker, etc. I'd ask for a replacement, yes. This time benchmark the PSU. Connect things individually and power it up.
Sounds like you just got a bad PSU. Order a replacement. If it doesn't work, the PSU took something else out with it.
Sounds like a bad PSU. If you have a sare PSU lying around, hook up the components individually, check they are still working.
I have a spare 300w from 2005 lol
