Razer Carcharias Headset Sound Messed Up (Sounds like under-water)

Last Night everything was fine, listening to music, playing titan quest, perfect. I wake up this morning, put it on my head, now all the sound is fucked up, most sounds are super quiet, some are loud, sounds like it's all under-water. I plugged in my headphones and it sounds perfectly fine on those, but on my razer headset it sounds completely screwed up. I did absolutely nothing to them from last night to this morning, i didn't drop them, didn't install anything. The most recent thing i installed was Windows Vista Sp2 for 64bit, but that was on friday or thursday and everything was fine after that. I have tried both the jacks on the top of my case (CM690) and at the back and it is the same.
I have only had it for about 5 months and i was hoping for a $100 headset it would last longer. Plus the sound was amazing when it actually worked :(
loose connection somewhere in the headset.
I get this effect when trying to use headphones/earbuds when my sound is set to Surround 5.1.
Don't buy Razer.
Check the sound drivers, it happens to me sometimes when the drivers decide to stop working

Woo, another Razer hate bandwagon person.
Razer doesn't make bad products. I do admit their advertisement techniques/messages are corny and ridiculous. I've had Razor DeathAdder and Tarantula for a few years now and I've never had any problems with them. Razor makes some pretty solid products. Sure things break, and fail but every brand/product has that problem. No brand is perfect.
All i can suggest to the op is sent it in for a new one. Hopefully you still have a warranty.

The quality is mediocre at best. Cheap plastic and shitty components. Oh, and $40 for a mousepad? No thanks.
$40 for a mousepad? So what? Are you going to buy it? Probably no so then don't bitch about it. They obviously have their reasons for pricing a mousepad high. Every company has a product that is unreasonably overpriced.
It's a mousepad. For gamers
CM has their V10 for $125. I lold at that so why don't you bash it?

it has a special coating that increases your score by 5%

 this is the argument i hear every time. The generic cheap plastic and shitty components.
Last time i checked, most things are made out of "Cheap plastic" and how are the components shitty? And that is the strongest argument that you can use "40 dollar mouse pad? No thanks" No one is forcing you to buy a mouse pad. A mouse pad is a mouse pad, i use one i got for free from the national guard. Anyone with a brain will know not to buy a overpriced item like that. If i had millions of dollars i wouldn't even spend 40 dollars on a mousepad. Some of their shit is overpriced, way overpriced, i admit that. But they're not as bad as you make it out to be.
I bought my Razor products in 2007, both at the same time. Both have survived several PCS'S (Moving for non-military folk), being dropped. The keyboard and mouse despite the heavy used look brand freaking new and run flawlessly. Not only are they both functional and have macro keys i use, they look slick.
I'm not saying Razor is the best brand ever, but they're not what you make them out to be.
Slippers, check your sound config. I've had games not quit properly and leave EAX effects turned on. See if you've got a "reset to defaults" in there somewhere
Every other headset and speaker works fine, it's just my razer headset that sounds fucked up.
Is there a driver? Try reinstalling it.
