[B]Fixed it by booting in safe mode and deleting normally[/B] Alright, on my external, I've got World Of Tanks beta installer I want to delete it I can't Right click, it causes explorer to crash Mouse click then press delete key, this also crashes explorer I've tried taking ownership and deleting via cmd this gives "error: access denied" It's been there for a couple of months, I sorta forgot it was on there Only realised now because my external is brutally low on space, and I was trying to free some up [editline]14th November 2010[/editline] Oh and I've ran virus scans and such, pretty sure I'm clean..
Although I'm not sure it'll work given your circumstances, try [url=http://filehippo.com/download_unlocker/]Unlocker[/url]. If you have Microsoft Security Essentials installed it might pick it up as a "severe threat". I believe it's just because Microsoft don't want us to mess with files we shouldn't be able to mess with - so don't panic if you get the red alert.
I do have MSE and I'm unsure if it's just a case of me not understanding how that programs meant to work but it does nothing to normal files that I right click, I still can't right click on the wot.exe and the program seems to have no interface of it's own. [editline]14th November 2010[/editline] Wait, gonna boot in safe mode and try it, just realised I hadn't... [editline]14th November 2010[/editline] aww man, Spent most of my sunday trying to rid myself of that simple safe mode boot and it's gone..
All you had to do was terminate the process that was utilizing it and it would have deleted fine.
How would I have gone about finding out which process was using it. There was no active program using it, as in it wasn't being used by a music player or anything of the like.
