My mum needs a new laptop because her old one sucks. Its for business only, and it needs to have a good battery. She doesnt have a desktop so consider this a desktop replacement. I was thinking of a thinkpad because they have high battery life and are generally good laptops for business, but if you guys have a better suggestion id like to hear it. It cant be more than over 1200 australian dollars.
1,000 USD dual core Alienware. Or, you know, just a netbook.

you'll find plenty of suitable laptops for less than $1200AUD, my Toshiba only cost me $900 and it has a 2.6GHz i7, 8GB RAM, GT525M and a 640GB HDD. Of course your mum won't need something like this though. Hell, with that much money and if she was into them she could get one of the cheaper MacBook Airs or MacBook Pros. Try looking at Acers, they generally pack less crapware than equivalent Dells and HPs. Ask her what kind of screen size she'd want, and try to look at models that will also feature good battery life I guess.
get a mac air $999
I have an acer aspire 5742, its really good for ythe usual stuff you do on a laptop, and in a bind it can run tf2, css and dods (i doubt your mum will play them, but if your desktop goes tits up)
