So this is about my friends PC again, and I'm wondering why he seems to have so many issues. Nonetheless, let's proceed.
So, my friends PC just randomly started having this issue where it would turn on, post, boot into Windows, get to the login screen - sometimes log on - and then turn off without warning.
Sometimes it reboots before such a point as any hint of the operating system appears, and when it does, it will almost certainly turn off very soon. Using safe mode does not fix the issue. All the fans do spin up when the computer is turned on, and we've checked the temperatures in the BIOS - before it crashed, none of the temperatures were high enough to cause an issue - mostly mid thirties (celcius).
He didn't change a thing before this issue, and the issue began when his computer unexpectadly packed up when watching a video on YouTube. The computer then began refusing to boot. This happened once before, but it was a singular issue and didn't continue after that one time - while trying to fix an issue with DPC latency.
He didn't install any drivers, software or new hardware in the time that this issue began, and both me and him are baffled to what is causing the issue, especially since he came home after the weekend to experinece this - showing that the computer isn't under any intense use.
We've not tried switching out the power supply, nor reseating the CPU. He wants me or a professional to do that for him due to the stupendous amounts of issues he appears to have. Is it likely that either of these two things are causing an issue, especially seen as nothing has changed since he started having this issue?
He's ensured all the power supply cables are firmly in place, including the 20+4 pin and the like, as well as the CPU connection, so what might be causing the issue?
His specs are as follows:
Asus M4N68T-M LE V2 (AM3 DDR3 motherboard)
AMD Phenom II X4 840 (3.2GHz, not OC'd)
4GB RAM (Single Channel, no discernable brand, questionable due to the fact it's "Extra Value". Link to the RAM. It's been fine up until now however.
AMD HD Radeon 6850 (1GB, not OC'd)
500GB SeaGate HDD (unlikely to be the issue, because the problem occurs before anything is booted from HDD on some occasions.
A Corsair 500W CX V2 PSU (The newest part of the system, has been in place for a few weeks, along with the 6850).
And some other components that are unlikely to be the issue.
So, FP - what do you think is the issue. Any ideas, any ideas at all.
Issue all fixed and stuff. No idea what was wrong with it, he brought it round to my place and it just worked. Thanks anyways.
