What do you do when you're bored on a Sunday evening? Take apart your 900 dollar PC for no reason and videotape it, of course! Basically I was bored today and thought perhaps I could make a little tutorial on how to take apart and put back together a modern computer without fucking everything up. So I set up my camera and tripod, set the camera to its highest quality setting, made adequate light, and set the computer on my desk. I basically describe everything you're taking apart and how the wires are plugged in. It's not professional or amazing by any means, but I think it's a nice little treat for those who aren't 100% sure how to put back together/build a computer or those who are doing it for the first time. What follows is two 720p HD videos. One of the taking apart process, and the second being the put together/boot-up sequences. The sped-up parts with the music are the parts that are boring i.e. unscrewing lots of things/mindlessly rambling while unscrewing lots of things. I tried to vary the music a little. I didn't want Yakety Sax as the music for EVERY sped up scene. YOU GET A COOKIE IF YOU RECOGNIZE THE "TONY HAWKS UNDERGROUND" MUSIC Part One (taking apart) IT'S BEING PROCESSED GIVE IT A MINUTE OR TWO!!!! Part Two (the putting together) *being edited and uploaded. be patient these are 450MB files* Fun facts (don't read until you're watching/have already watched the videos) -Halfway through the putting back together, the doorbell rings audibly in the video. This was some little girl that lives next to me that wanted to know if she and her friends could use my basketball hoop in my driveway. -I had to do two takes of the boot-up sequence because I accidentally forgot to plug the power button back into the motherboard. -There was a clusterfuck of dust and other shit inside that case there. Enough to make it hazardous to my PC. -The videogame case in the top corner of my desk in the videos is a copy of "SOCOM: US Navy Seals" for the PS2. -My computer is a pre-built Dell computer hence all the shit strewn everywhere in my case. -The two shitmarks on my elbow are from falling down the stairs two days ago. Rug-burn is a bitch. -I couldn't fucking remember the parts in my computer for the life of me. Hence the Western Digital/Seagate fuckup.

The way you handled the video card/sound card/RAM made me cringe.
The way you handled the video card/sound card/RAM made me cringe.
I don't see why, you can touch them anywhere as long as your grounded, do you mean how he held the video card with one hand? The 9800GT's are very light and thin so they won't crack in two if you single handedly hold them.

Though I suppose I might be a bit paranoid especially since it's his own system he's working on. I'm just too used to handling hardware at work that I couldn't afford to replace even if I sold my car.
Where do you work? I'm probably gonna get a job at AMD in Austin.
