• The Button of Death

Imagine a machine that you can select how many numbers you want from 1 to 100, and then when you press the button, a number from 1 to 100 will be chosen randomly. If one of your selected numbers is the one chosen, you will die. If not, you will earn 50,000$ and 1 year of life per number selected. Use this website to roll the numbers: http://jawjahboy.com/games/number-generators/random1-100.php. If your number is the shown one, you died. Post the numbers you chose, and the chosen number. [editline]9th August 2015[/editline] Selected Numbers: 44 23 12 2 5 6 7 8 43 55 87 09 Chosen Number: 88 I survived and earned 600,000$ and 12 years of life.

3, 5, 7, 25, 32, 42, 43 Rolled 33 Sweet, 350,000 and 7 years.
If it wasn't 0200 I'd work out how many numbers could be chosen to statistically maximize your chances.
99,38,100,20,80,100,65,83,36,96,29,98,6,99,31,90,64,63,94,30 I chose 32. I lived and I have a nice solid 1,000,000.
So, it turns out that my chances approach 50% at 38 numbers. Given that it reports to be a random number generator (most are terribly flawed), I could just go 1-38.. But, I don't trust it. So, I just went to Wolfram to get me 38 random numbers between 1 and 100. 61, 75, 98, 35, 93, 90, 18, 63, 36, 83, 55, 53, 29, 41, 99, 14, 82, 29, 31, 53, 28, 64, 90, 40, 31, 54, 42, 69, 77, 72, 46, 96, 14, 90, 31, 8, 33, 6. Lets see what the website says: ....wait, my number was there. Oh, well. That's what you get on coin-flipping odds (50.2%). With a large enough sample, there will be a slight excess of wins.
I chose every prime number between 1 and 100 and got 83 I am now dead
1, 10, 34, 86, 92, 99 Number I got: 20 Phew.

Now what's the probability of doing this on your first try? This is what happened to me.
