Depends on your resolution. But I'll say you'll probably play most modern and upcoming games on higher settings.
Don't expect to max Metro and Crysis though.
It should do quite well at any resolution.

I can max TF2 at 1280x1024, I played Crysis on high at the same res.

Not really, he'll be wanting a beefier GPU if he wants to look at maxing it. The best graphics card in the world can't fully max out crysis at 60 fps
If you want to be safe, get an SLI compatible mobo and a 650W PSU. That way if you get unsatisfactory preformance you can just get another GTX460.
