fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck I need this game
While this needs to be highlighted, this was announced like 3-4 months ago. Only monsters will be DLC. Maps won't be paid for.
I haven't played the alpha, but I feel like this game would easily get old after 10 hours of playing or so.

I'm guessing that's why they are releasing maps for free.

The game got old after playing it twice, I think it's fair to say the game won't sell well considering it's 60$ with very little gameplay

Odd since the game was built with gameplay in mind.
Wonder how they cocked that one up so fervently.
So you can experience paid DLC by playing on a match started by someone who has that paid DLC.
Great! Magicka does this too, which worked out really well for them and players both. You get to try before you buy, with a slight inconvenience factor.

I played the alpha for 18 hours and that wasn't even the full game. Still not sure it's worth full price though.

Also I like how receiving the full game is now a feature.
Hey thats pretty neat, that's like how Payday 2 handles its dlc, right?
In my opinion it was a pretty fun alpha with only 2-3 maps out of the 16 at launch. Everyone who's giving it shit played it for like 2 hours and dismissed it.
When you get into a real good match where everyone seems to know what they're doing it turns out to be a pretty competent game.
I can't help but think people are a bunch of spoiled brats today, even if it isn't your cup of tea then i don't see why this game is getting bashed by people as it is.
When you think about how much work actually went into the game it's almost disheartening how fast people bitch about shit.

The... Alpha's gameplay got old?
TR has left4dead under their belt, a game specifically designed for replayability and this release, Evolve, will be no different.
So no: it's not fair to say that. I'm not crazy about this separately sold DLC crap, but I seriously doubt they'll completely fumble the ball when they started this project with a match-based/4v1 format in mind.
L4D has no re playability imo. Maps are unnoticeablely different on subsequent playthroughs. IMO l4d isn't fun with randoms and so as soon as your friends get bored of it the game is completely dead.
No one on my friends list was playing l4d 1 or 2 3 months after they came out. No multiplayer only game is worth $60 if it dies that fast
are they allowed to do this? Doesn't Microsoft have rules against free DLC on Xbox?

I was exclusively referencing Versus-mode. There was a high-skill ceiling and a once bustling competitive scene.
The fun and replayability came from the players and their tactics, much like this here Evolve. You can't beat the thrill of battling human intelligence in a multiplayer game~

I played the Big Alpha for 27 hours and when it ended I still wanted to play it even more.
There's so much you can do in this game, and it was fun talking to people just starting on the game too like when L4D2 versus first came out.
You can make a few friends when the game comes out because people are still testing the waters.
Also I'm not sure if you can still, but when the big alpha was going full copies of Evolve were being traded for 8-12 tf2 keys, which is around $30.
It was pretty much $1/hour of fun that I've invested into this game at this price point and I can see me, level 1 again, playing another 20+ hours to unlock what I had in the Big Alpha, and then I still had 2 more classes to unlock, and every elite skin minus support's.

And yet it's the 23rd most played game on steam today.

ME3's multiplayer DLC was all free, so no.
IMO if it's as enjoyable as left 4 dead, then it will do well and I'd probably play it just as much
