SpaceEngine barely qualifies as a game though. It's a 3D simulation.
I think I'd probably give the title of most fun space game I've played to either planet explorers or space engineers, with honourable mention to starmade. Haven't tried Empyrion but some people on FP seem to be big on it, might give it a try at some point

It's still more game than no man's lie ever will be and is honestly way more fun than most space games.
it would be nice if space engine mods weren't 40 fucking gigabytes.
i'd love to cruise that simulated universe in the enterprise, but the way my hard drive space is looking..
X3 Terran Conflict + Albion Prelude. Freelancer. Starmade (Minecraft in Space but more advanced). Space Engineers. Starbound.
All are better than No Man's Sky

No as unsubstantial as no man's sky is it's still much more of a game. SpaceEngine is definitely a better product but there is no game component to it so literally any game will qualify as more game. "More game" does not mean better product, but No Man's Sky definitely wins there.
Starbound is still the space game for me.
no man's please just stop making articles about this
I feel that in order to justify the purchase and time spent learning a new game, it better be a vast improvement. I already have a few hundred hours put into Space Engineers and I want to try out other space crafting survival games, but it's hard to justify the purchase of something so similar to what I already have

You might find it more fun but that isnt an objective fact and no mans sky is more of a GAME with more GAMEPLAY than SpaceEngine has, sorry.

I really want to get into the X games and I loved the music but I have no idea on how to make money in a fun way. :v:

Kerbal Space Program is life
Empyrion is pretty promising, it uses early access and community feedback properly. Its impressive just reading the patch notes for one month alone.
SpaceEngine barely qualifies as a game though. It's a 3D simulation.
Its not even a true simulation. Only real on the fly calculation are gravity applied to the player and temperature.
I feel like PCGamer journalists have a quota of NMS related articles to write every week.

Empyrion is Space Engineers if Space Engineers had focused on planets right from the start.
That's what I hear.

I mean, somebody has to talk about it. Hello Games sure isn't.

Empyrion focus on the gameplay, but I find some of the graphics unrealistic.
Space Engineers focus on the simulation parts, but you rarely go in battle.
Empyrion got enemies on nearly every planet/moon and its easier to craft your blueprints. Where Space Engineers is more "grindy". You need to build a ship to build bigger ships.
I learned to stop buying this shit because everything is incomplete and problem won't get finished.
I have played Empyrion on and off and it has matured greatly in the past year, it might be in early access but in its current state it's still pretty enjoyable.
That's quite a click-baity title. Other than that, would anyone recommend Empyrion? It'd be nice to play something new.

Initially it's not very fun, I always went straight to trading energy cells to ore mines in Ore Belt, then Ore from Ore Belt (Once I had more seed money from the cells) to stations that use Ore in sectors around Ore Belt
Once you start rolling in money you can buy trade ships, install trade software and turn them into sector traders that automatically trade for you. After they hit level 8 I think, you can turn them into universe traders and they'll make jumps to sectors. Eventually you just have fleets doing the work for you while you build an armed armada, or a complex chain of stations to produce goods/weapons that NPCs will then come buy
Or you could turn to piracy. Every NPC you see is doing a job that you can follow start to finish

I always tried Piracy but it's extremely difficult, also everyone hated me and I had no idea how to survive that way.
I know about the trading thingy, though the method I know involves stealing an abbadoned ship, running some script I think with some AI and then I think I had to remotely trade with the station. Maybe the script was for something else though.
