• Windows 7 suddenly isn't activated anymore

I'm guessing this is the place to post this, so I'll start off. I installed a new graphics card (Nvidia 9800 GT) and PSU (Coolmax V-400 400W power supply) just 3 days ago. Turned on my computer, watched some videos, when suddenly it said I had 30 days to activate Windows and that my product key wasn't valid anymore. Looked up the error and came to this: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Windows-7-activation-error-0xC004C008 Followed the instructions (as best as I could, they were pretty inaccurate for the most part), then came to this screen: [t]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/29790304/misc/Dwm%202012-09-21%2018-59-01-46.png[/t] Problem is, my key isn't in this format, it's "xxxxx-OEM-xxxxxxx-xxxxx" instead of what you see above, so the automated phone service has no clue what I'm punching in. Tried simply retyping the key too instead of calling, and it said zero was an invalid character. :v: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit OEM build. Any help?
I'm guessing you already figured this out by now, but when you switch parts, your "original equipment manufacturer build" license expires as far as I know. But in most cases, if you purchase any replacement parts from the same manufacturer where you bought the computer, you will not violate that EULA. Still, this is weird to me since you should be able to re-activate it a couple times before you get completely locked out.

What the OP is experiencing can be caused by some simple things. I know it sounds weird but make sure your PC clock is accurate and sync'd correctly with somewhere as that can much up the licensing. The telephone service never asks you for the product key, or rather it shouldn't. Unless you bought a pack of 100 licenses always pick the home option (option 1), it then asks you to type in that long installation ID the program generates, then spits back to you a similar number, then thats it. At no point the phone system should ask you for the product key. If the worst comes to the worst just rebuild the OS and all will be fine.
Whoops I mixed the keys up, got it working through the phone. Thanks for the help, guys.
