It looks amazing, I can't wait.
I'm a huge Halo fan, but this looks really REALLY terrible. Some pretty bad voice acting and writing ("What are those things"-line for example), angsty teen drama shoe-horned in and on top of that, the chief looks like meh and they didn't even use the same voice actor. Then again, I thought Stargate Universe was gonna be shit for the same reason, yet it got pretty damn enjoyable by the end.
Looks pretty damn good, though the gigantic 117 on the Spartan's chest looks goofy as hell. Also, why didn't they get Steve Downes to voice the Master Chief?
I completely agree. The ODST mini-series looked way better. I'd have preferred something more in the style of Band of Brothers, rather than following a single character. The way they react to the fact that they're under attack is completely retarded, they wouldn't just stand there looking at the sky and then clogging up some hallways. We'll see how the full thing turns out. [editline]13th July 2012[/editline] Also completely inaccurate nobody ever trusts the ai to drive warthogs
Looks campy but somewhat good. Chief's armor looks ridiculous, though.
Wait, so at what point in the Halo timeline does this series fit into, because the article says "just before the covenant invade", but Master Chief has Mark VI MJOLNIR armor on when he didn't even have Mark V when the Covenant first invaded Harvest. But if this takes place after Halo 3, then shouldn't he be drifting along in the aft-end of the titular ship until he crashes into that Sphere-thing that Halo 4 takes place on? Maybe it's just some person masquerading as Chief. It would explain why they didn't get Steve Downes to voice him... And yes, I am a huge Halo nerd.

I feel let down. The halo series has probably one of the best original stories in video games ever, and Microsoft is milking it until it's dead. The guys at bungie must be furious seeing this happen to their game.

The company making this game is also made up by former Bungie employees, and professionals from all over the gaming industry. This is only the second Halo game (not counting CEA) not made by Bungie.
This hardly reminded me of Halo at all. However, the gameplay we saw earlier did, that that's what counts, right?

[editline]13th July 2012[/editline] Can't wait for this!
And yes, I am a huge Halo nerd.
Clearly not. Hes wearing Mark IV not VI. Chief got the Mark IV during the Covenant invasion of Chi Ceti IV in 2525. He didn't get the Mark V till 2552 27 years after Harvest was first burned. He got the Mark VI when he got to Earth.
i kinda liked it until chief showed up does he really have to be in every fucking piece of halo media ever? (forget about odst it was not good)
The story is linked to Halo 4, and how Chief was an inspiration to Thomas Lasky, a character in both Halo 4 and the main protagonist of this series.
looks pretty crappy tbh
A bit of the acting looks a little off, but that trailer was badass. I'll be watching this as soon as it comes out.
It looks like a few of these actors are from SGU
I only recognized one actor from Stargate. The General barking order at them.
Godammit, why did they have to throw in the chief? He has no character or personality whatsoever. He's like Gordon freeman, you are meant to project yourself onto him. That is good for a game character but terrible for a movie character. He might as well be a robot. Hell, I've seen robots with better personalities than that! And the rest of it looks bad. It looks like another crappy, campy, military drama that Hollywood pumps out for a cheap buck. It's just so boring and worn. All in all, this looks like shit.
Chief is getting more personality in Halo 4, he talks more and we'll be delving into his character. Chief was never meant to be like Freeman. And the Chief needed to be in there because its part of the back story. The Main character of this Story (Lasky) is in Halo 4.
I wish the guys who made the ODST trailers would do this. Those were awesome. Also 3 years and we still don't have a full track of that Gaelic song during the ODST trailer.

This isn't a crappy military drama that Hollywood pumped out for a cheap buck. It's a 5 part web mini series following the story of several main characters that will be in Halo 4. Additionally it is produced, written and made by 343 Industries. And it's free (Extended cut included with Halo 4's limited edition.) Get your facts straight before you start ranting.

Guys, just because he finally talked in Halo 2 and 3 doesn't mean he really has a personality. I mean, name one trait he has. Just 1.
Guys, just because he finally talked in Halo 2 and 3 doesn't mean he really has a personality. I mean, name one trait he has. Just 1.
Have you even read the books?
I really just wish the character was a marine. ODST's are cool but all they ever make them into is OMG LONE STAR SUPER SPEC OPS. Spartans are pretty much the same thing, marines have military organization and their role pretty much requires them to be humanized.
Guys, just because he finally talked in Halo 2 and 3 doesn't mean he really has a personality. I mean, name one trait he has. Just 1.
Have you read the books? Have you watched the Halo media from the expanded universe? Better yet, have you even listened to the dialog of John in any of the Halo games, he has a sense of humor, and a personal connection to Cortana, expressed through dialog. Learn the facts of Master Chief before you continuing saying stuff that is false.
I wish the guys who made the ODST trailers would do this. Those were awesome. Also 3 years and we still don't have a full track of that Gaelic song during the ODST trailer.
It wasn't Gaelic and it was not made just for the trailer, look it up.

I mean, most of it wasn't even made by Bungie. I never new that Facepunch had such fanwankery for Halo. It's a good game series but it's just not a good idea to make a movie out of it, unless you want it to be a big-dumb blockbuster. Even a webseries can still have the same faults as a movie. To me, it looks very generic. (which can be attributed to the fact that many series did indeed copy Halo so many times that now the source material itself is stale.) [editline]fantards[/editline] Oh, and you guys still didn't name a trait yet.
