• Zune HD, good buy

I recently came into some money and was wondering if a 16gb zune hd is a good buy for only $200?
The iPod Touch (jailbroken) is better than the Zune HD in general functionality even though it's only 8 gigs for the $199 3G model because it has larger community support, better games, and such. Considering the 2G is just as swell, able to be jailbroken (untethered) easily, and costs around $235 on Amazon for the 16 gig model and has a way better selection of games I recommend it over the Zune HD That's my preference, after owning two iPod Touches. However, if you don't need the app store or any gizmos and gadgets, the Zune still comes with a multitouch web browser which is the same thing as the iPod Touch offers and is a solid buy for $200.

Damn this is a hard decision...
If you wanna use it for music etc get a Zune HD if you want apps, get an iTouch
If you want one for music get a player that only plays music. Touchscreen players ruin your life, they are far to fun. Get a regular mp3 player, I recommend the Sansa Fuze, it has a microSD card slot and is only $80 for an 8GB.
Zune is great for music but it lacks in the app store part of it.
I say get a Zune, you can program your own apps, there is also tons of community support i don't know what these jokers are talking about. For mine i download games and get help from http://www.zuneboards.com/forums/zune-hd-games-207/ there are more sites i just haven't found a need for any others. If you have any questions about the Zune just PM me i have a 32 gig ipod.
The Zune HD is a very new product. The Store uses microsoft points so you can link it to your xbox account to get music with any leftover points you have. I prefer Zune because of its simplicity and it does not use iTunes. Plus it has Audiosurf and a great Twitter app. The reason they have no good apps right now is because it is very new. But all the apps are free, which is a good plus side. Music and Videos play very well on the Zune.
The Zune has a much nicer interface, makes you want to organise your music neatly so it looks really nice and sleak all with the nice OLED screen where the colours are great. Zune is more in touch with the music aspect, giving you bios, pictures and related artists under your artist when you are listening to whoever which I find personally a nice feature. App wise, Zune hasn't took off like the Itouch, but even then the itouch/iphone didn't have much of an appstore till a while later. PGR and Audiosurf are fanstastic apps, Audiosurf being something you download for free and can replay over and over. I find my friends can get bored with the apps on the Itouch after being addicted for a week. If you jailbreak an Itouch it's pretty limitless so if you like your apps you'll be too distracted to worry about any other features. Strong Apps = Itouch Music, with the odd game = Zune HD OH ITUNES IS BAD, Zune software just screams fuck me I'm beautiful.
the Zune just needs some extra attention. then there will be games and much more.
Zune is AMAZING for music. The HD radio is a big plus, also the Zune pass thing is a good thing seeing as you get as many songs as you want for free for only $15 a month. So if you pirate music now is your chance to feel like a good person for cheap :D . I do sort of miss my Itouch though, but mainly just for the sake of having a bunch of apps and youtube support. The battery life on the Zune seems to triple that of the touch though.
Also, iPod Touch has mostly shit apps anyway. Youtube, Facebook, and a couple games are basically it. oh and the Zunes HD radio is a great feature as well.
it does not use iTunes
the zune software is even worse, so that's not really a good reason
the zune software is even worse, so that's not really a good reason
The Zune Software is amazing, it's not nearly as resource hungry and bloated as iTunes.
The Zune Software is amazing, it's not nearly as resource hungry and bloated as iTunes.
yeah but it's clunky and doesn't like to recognize a zune at times bloated or not iTunes is much easier to use
yeah but it's clunky and doesn't like to recognize a zune at times bloated or not iTunes is much easier to use
It always recognized my Zune...except for the first time I put it in, I needed to install the hardware. [editline]02:55PM[/editline] I never had a problem with the Zune marketplace and I find it easy to use.
i'm not talking about the marketplace, i'm talking about use in general
I purchased one, the 32g, and it was easily the best purchase I've ever made regarding music. It's got an audiosurf app for free, and the Zune's Smart DJ is better than Pandora radio.
Get the Zune, don't listen to Jasper, he's an idiot and a lot of people want him degold'd.
Get the Zune, don't listen to Jasper, he's an idiot and a lot of people want him degold'd.
you're one cool motherfucker dude, i envy you and i never said don't get a zune faggot, i own one i just said the software for it sucks
I've had a zune 8gb for over a year and I have never had any problems with the software.
I got a Zune HD for christmas. It's very nice and functional. The few apps it does have are fun. If you're looking to get it to listen to music or watch videos, definetally the Zune HD.
i just said the software for it sucks
What do you mean? It's faster, prettier, and easier to use than iTunes. Plus if one of your friends has a Zune, you can copy your music off of it onto your computer. I don't see iTunes allowing you to do that. Plus, if you have any coding experience, creating apps for the Zune HD is pretty easy, and you don't have to pay money for a dev kit.
What do you mean? It's faster, prettier, and easier to use than iTunes.
i agree with faster, but not prettier and easier it looks like a prostitute with all the visual effects on it, the hell does it need a drop shadow the way the music is selected also sucks, it works exactly like the zune which is fine for a 6 square inch screen, not so much for a program taking up half my monitor if you're just using it to get the music on your mp3 player it's fine, but as a media player it sucks
Plus if one of your friends has a Zune, you can copy your music off of it onto your computer.
the way the music is selected also sucks, it works exactly like the zune which is fine for a 6 square inch screen, not so much for a program taking up half my monitor
Are you dumb? It's literally the same as itunes. You double-click on a song or album and it plays.
Are you dumb? It's literally the same as itunes. I love my zune 120.
The big problem with iTunes isn't the bloated-ness, it's the fucking restrictions.
i'm talking about the menu faggot how you get to that little pretty song you click on [editline]03:07PM[/editline] allthough i've used them all and i've found the best method is to fuck all of them and organize my music in files by artist and album
Itunes looks like a spreadsheet program, but each to his own I guess. I can't stand using Itunes, the slideshow that plays on the Zune player when you idle with a song playing/fullscreen is just damn son.
i'm talking about the menu faggot how you get to that little pretty song you click on
K, so you are dumb. It's kind of easy to choose a song on the Zune software. All you have to do is click an artist, album, and look for the song on the right. I literally don't know how it could become any easier.
Zune HD + Zune Pass = unparalleled
