• PC Not Performing as well as it Should (I think)

These are my specs, I've recently upgraded my GPU to the r9 290, but I was under the assumption from the benchmarks and such I'd see that it was a pretty good card. Yet when playing Far Cry 3, Arma 2 and Arma 3, even at lower settings I'm getting FPSs that average around 30, and much lower on the ARMA games. Is this the actual full potential of my PC or is something wrong?
CPU's probably your culprit. ARMA2 is VERY heavy on the CPU, not sure about the other games.
Is your CPU this model? http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103996 [editline]31st January 2015[/editline] That rig should run Far Cry 3 no problem.

Looking at comparisons and it barely edges out really old CPU's like Intel's Core2 Quads AND it's a Bulldozer CPU, no wonder it's a pile of shit. Yeah, he needs to upgrade that CPU which probably means he's gonna need to upgrade his mobo as well.
Might wanna upgrade that cpu to a FX-8350 or get a whole new system with a i5/i7

Installing it to a seperate disk may see performance increases for arma specifically.

Then drop them to as low as possible, keeping your resolution the same. Did your framerate change any? If not, it's the CPU. If you have a lot of AI in Arma, it hits your CPU like a truck. Your CPU is about as good as mine and mine can not handle Arma with lots of AI Get an FX8350, or an FX8320 if you have an after market cooler you can use to overclock with. They're not as good as Intel, but you won't have to buy a different motherboard, or pay twice as much for the CPU itself, and it should hold you over pretty well. Either should work on your Mobo without so much as a BIOS update, as long as your PSU can support a 125W processor over your current 95W
get an FX-8320E if your motherboard has a recent BIOS update. Looks like that motherboard supports up to a 8370 according to the CPU support list. I wouldn't go that high thought as it will likely get throttled during heavy loads and not worth the money. EDIT Unless you want big improvements in ARMA going Intel is the only option.
