• Trying to Photoshop a New Avatar

So, this is going to be my new avatar, I just don't want the black background in it. So I blew the dust off my photoshop, kicked it into gear and got cracking. Now I was pretty sure I could figure this out myself, and a quick Google gave me this: http://www.mediacollege.com/adobe/photoshop/transparent/background.html Nothing I didn't know already, so I quickly whipped up my new avatar and saved it as a png first. But when I move it here the background is still white. I uploaded the picture to imgur, and the transparency was working. So I tried a gif instead, checked the transparency option (which gave me a preview showing the gray and white checkered background for empty space in photoshop), and was still met with failure. Any help please?
How big is the image you made? It can't be higher than 80x80.

Also I tried resizing it to 80x80 but, no luck.

Did you add a alpha channel?
Did you add a alpha channel?
Nah, didn't think I had to. Not that I'm a pro at photoshop or anything.

there's several reasons for fp to screw it up, usually due to the dimensions being larger than 80x80 or the filesize, but the filesize should be an issue with a still png could you upload the image your currently using as your avatar and link it here?

Is there any way you could try to make the edges look as dark as the outline under his jaw? If not, it still looks nice.

Is it me or is that really creepy?

Let me try something real quick. I think I can copy paste that line to work the way I want it. Edit: Blarugh, I'll have to do it tomorrow, frustrating me a little too much.
