Hey FP. I'm going to be building a PC and I need a build around 500$ no more than 600$ I really want a decent processor this time. Can someone convince me not get the Thuban X6 or otherwise? All I need for this build is a Processor, Motherboard, RAM, heatsink, Possibly a GPU, HDD, and a powersupply. I would really like suggestions but other than that I've gotten this build set up: I know you can do better Facepunch, don't let me down.
Okay get the samsung f3 1tb. Get an am3 motherboard. 500 watt powersupply 700 watts is overkill. Finally a coolermaster hyper 212+ cpu cooler.
If you're going to be gaming don't get a 6 core cpu, most games barely handle 4 well.

Anyways, here's what I've gotten so far, comments?
coolermaster hyper 212+ and you need a am3 mobo and ddr3 ram. [editline]05:29PM[/editline] Mobo and use the ram you have before. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157176
Whats the point of buying a 6 core if youre just going to set it to 4 core? A huge waste of money IMO

It would run alot cooler actually... But thats what arctic silver is for :v:

Btw, what's the main difference between DDR2 and DDR3? I will probably want to get a new Video card as well, should I go nVidia or ATI?
Disregard people's opinions on ATI or Nvidia, just go with the card that is best performance for your budget.
Disregard people's opinions on ATI or Nvidia, just go with the card that is best performance for your budget.
I wouldn't consider getting a new card because currently I have a 9800GTX but the thing is massive and I'm worried about it not fitting on the Mobo.
I wouldn't consider getting a new card because currently I have a 9800GTX but the thing is massive and I'm worried about it not fitting on the Mobo.
no card will be longer than that, other than the ridiculously long 5970 and I think the plastic cover of the 5870 goes about 0.5" longer
Wait for the 212 to come back in stock.
Okay, this is my build so far, I'm going to re-use my 550w PSU and my 9800GTX. I'll use the stock fan and heat sink that comes with the Phenom II X4 until the 212 restocks and I'll order one of those. Any comments?
what's the 550W you have now? if it's some $20 no-name brand, you'll want a new one
what's the 550W you have now? if it's some $20 no-name brand, you'll want a new one
Uhh, can't find the box and I don't recall the name. I should probably get a new one... Updated my post with a PSU.
get this PSU its way better http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817256061&cm_re=silverstone_80_plus-_-17-256-061-_-Product
Uhh, can't find the box and I don't recall the name. I should probably get a new one... Updated my post with a PSU.
the details should be on a sticker on the side of the PSU itself but if it turns out you need a new one that silverstone should be great.
