• Trying to get port forwarding to work

I recently bought a new router (Asus RT-N56U) to replace my old modem/router combo (Telewell TW-EA510). I simply use the Telewell modem as a modem which I have connected the Asus router to. The problem is that simply setting a static IP and opening ports from RT-N56U isn't enough, I have to do something with TW-EA510's settings. I read something about disabling NAT and DHCP from TW-EA510 and/or making the connection bridged to RT-N56U or even doing something with DMZ. This all is beyond my knowledge.
You need to set a static IP on both the modem and the router, assuming your setup is like so: Modem>router>computer Basically set up the modem as if the router were your computer. Then do the same for the router.
DMZ allows anyone and everything access through your router. Use it only for testing purposes. It is NOT a good long term solution. What exactly are you trying to port forward? What program/game? Typically when you have both a modem and router that both have firewalls, you have to set up the port forwarding on both, or one of them will block the connection.
Yeah, I'm trying to get my µTorrent working (as well as some games). [editline]28th July 2011[/editline] I think I got this working. My router has a static IP now.
Add me on steam if you have any more problems, i've helped so many people do this.
