• Minor Upgrades to Acer Aspire

So I've been enjoying my Acer Aspire 5750 for over a year now and have been looking at maxing-out the RAM and replacing the HD with an SSD (Especially after a rogue falling screwdriver fell right on top of the HD, the dent is still on the chassis). Another upgrade I've looked into is the currently empty 34mm mini-PCI-E slot on the underbelly. Typically its used for 3G modems, however I found a Broadcom Crystal HD media accelerator card for it. I haven't had any problems with lag with the built in Intel HD 3000 on games or movies, however I'm wondering if this Broadcom card could share the load, boosting performance. Or would it just become a bottleneck/hassle? Or would I only see a marginal improvement, nothing $30 worth of improvement?
Only one device can accelerate video playback at a time. If you aren't having problems with the HD3000 playing video, you shouldn't get the broadcom card. It's a waste of money and it might not even work. But along with the SSD and RAM upgrade, you should also be able to upgrade the CPU. Though upgrading the CPU on laptops is a bit of a surgical ordeal on models without an access door. There are i5s and i7s available for laptops, depending on your needs.
