I'd like to get on from ibuypower due to the many RMA's and times ive magically fucked up when building. What do you guys think about ibuypower and alike?
Computers are complicated. It is very likely that in the process of a computer being built, something will go wrong. I'd rather be in control of what to do about it, and rather be able to replace the parts myself if something goes wrong. It's cheaper to replace a single part than to replace an entire broken box. It's faster to buy a single replacement part than to call tech support.
Basically, I feel that the only excuse for buying a prebuilt gaming computer is a complete lack of knowlegde of how computers work, coupled with a willingness to buy into advertising that can make one feel that a company can build a computer better than a single person.
Addendum: If everything goes well with a prebuilt, then it can be worth it not to debug a custom-built computer; however, if it has an issue, you're fucked.
I personally don't find anything bad about buying a prebuilt if you buy it in the correct store.
Though you might get the computer around 5-10% cheaper if you build it yourself.
I laugh at prebuilds, half the speed of my machine twice the price.
