I was expecting to come in here seeing "Skyrim, Skyrim Skyrim."
I'm pleasantly surprised at these choices.
torchlight 2 is an RPG?
[editline]25th September 2013[/editline]
kinda surprised that fallout 1 and or 2 didnt make the list
Might want to link to the latest DSFix (2.1) instead of the old 1.9 release. From Software recently threw in a small but mod-breaking update which required the community to fix things once again.
New Vegas wasn't nearly as good as Fallouts 1 or 2, and there is a severe lack of Ultima, but overall an agreeable list

Torchlight 2 is undeniably an RPG how are you even questioning this
Under new vegas
That said, the only piece of DLC that’s actually good is Old World Blues.
um
excuse me
it's "more" of an RPG than Deux Ex or New Vegas is
edit: yeah, okay, just stroll in and break my automerge that's cool, guy :c

I think it doesn't deserve to be on the list. Come on, put diablo 2 there if you want it so much.

Why DID they put Torchlight II instead of Diablo II? Hell, even the first Diablo deserves to be on the list more. Not that I'm saying Torchlight is a bad game series, it's just the principle.
What about IceWind dale?
I'm just glad Morrowind made the list, hands down best elder scrolls game.
lol shadowrun returns ok
[editline]25th September 2013[/editline]
and torchlight 2 for that matter, neither of those games are particularly good. (not particularly bad either, but they definitely don't belong on any top x lists.)
though for the most part this list isn't so bad. nowadays these lists are usually "skyrim, skyrim, also skyrim"
I'm glad to see Obsidian owns half that list, as they should. I think NWN2: Mask of the Betrayer should have been there too though, that one was Baldurs Gate levels of incredible.
I'm also very happy that KotOR 2 was chosen instead of 1. If you look past the issues, you quickly realize how well it was written compared to it's earlier counterpart.
What about IceWind dale?
They have the Baldur's Gate series up there - it might start getting redundant if they had Planescape, BG and IWD.
Very agreeable list.

Not to mention IWD was relatively tame in the character/story department. Great games, but they were mostly for the dungeon crawling crowd which is a slight misstep from Torment/Baldur's Gate imo.

excuse me
I'm almost done with Lonesome Road and I'm loving it so far. Old World Blues, while annoying in difficulty, was hilarious and I loved it.
Dead Money sucked though. Honest hearts was kinda... meh? I dunno, Honest hearts pisses me off in the same way that Point Lookout pissed me off. You're a goddamn tribalman, you should not be able to one-hit me in ranger combat armor with a fucking baseball bat. Furthermore, you're fucking half naked, you also shouldn't be able to take hand-loaded 45-70 to the face and still have time to one-hit me.

He addressed Ultima in the first sentence in his section about Baldur's Gate. It's just too much of a hassle to play right now since it doesn't work on modern systems.
I'm just gonna throw this out there as someone who is a huge Fallout and Deus Ex fan and not a very big DnD person:
Planescape: Torment is literally the best RPG ever.
Lack of Fallout 1 or 2 is making me sad.
Anachronox seems interesting. Might have to give it a try.
I think they left Fallout 1 and 2 out because Fo1 at least is unaccessible for 2013 gamers. It relies heavily on RNGs and you need a decent build right out of the bat if you don't want to get murdered five steps off the rat cave
Like how they put "Mass Effect Series" so they could sneak ME2 and 3 on the list. IMO apart from the first game the other 2 games aren't very RPG like apart from going around talking to people.
Should have just put ME1 since it has more RPG elements than the other 2 combined.

There's also the incompatibilities they have with some aspects of modern PCs. Like Fallout 2 hates 32-bit colour and will fill your screen with rainbow unless you know to set your computer to render in 16-bit colour. I've seen a lot of people who don't know about the 16/32-bit difference turning away form the game completely because of that.
Don't the GoG versions of Fallout 1&2 have increased compatibility with newer PC's?
I'm curious about Planescape, what's different about it compared to your typical RPG?

I think it's more like they aren't interested in playing it enough to look up the problem. The entire fix would take 5 minutes.

The plot and setting are really unique, but the real beauty is the writing. It's superb. Can't really say much because it runs the risk of spoilers.

The rat cave was easy in Fallout 1.
It was Fallout 2 that kicks your ass in the tutorial.
