Can't install from USB, "Missing operating system"
1 replies, posted
I'm trying to get Linux on my EeePC 701 4G, and both Unetbootin and Universal USB Installer give me the "missing operating system" message, with xubuntu, ubuntu and ubuntu netbook remix.
I'm using a 2 GB Apacer flash drive, as if that matters.
The computer I'm running Unetbootin and Universal USB Installer on runs Windows 7 x64. What do I do?

Just tried the manual Mac OS way:
hdiutil convert -format UDRW -o ~/path/to/target.img ~/path/to/ubuntu.iso
diskutil unmountDisk /dev/diskN
sudo dd if=/path/to/downloaded.img of=/dev/rdiskN bs=1m
Still didn't work.
see if you can boot anything on that flash drive. I have a HP v125w that I can not boot anything from.
