I have an ati radeon HD5850 graphics card and i am running catalyst control centre 10.8.
when I go onto the amd website and download the latest drivers which is 11.5 or something
they install it says an error has occurred but when i check the log there are no errors.
afterwards the CCC stays at the same version :(

Well why do you need to update your drivers? If you don't have a specific reason to then I wouldn't bother tbh, I'm sure people will come and rate me dumb but really keeping your drivers up to date is overrated. It almost never effects overall performance, and well if it isn't broken then why fix it?
If you really for some reason feel the need to update them then I'd recommend uninstalling the current drivers before trying to install the new one. There might be some kind of conflict going on. But again if you have no reason then don't bother, you don't want to end up unable to install video drivers do you?
i have tried absolutely everything and cant update them, i have uninstalled every ati program on my computer and reinstalled them, removed the registry, deleted the ati drivers and reinstalled them, and it still wont work, for some reason my catalyst control centre has disappeared, i dont know what to do, i cant be stuck on this version forever or i cant play my old games as the new updates as support for them :(
Did you use a drivercleaner?
yes i used drivecleaner
