I'm gunna be downloading a mod for bf2 that is about 3 gigs and I was wondering if it would be safe to leave my laptop on for the night while i sleep? (because of some people who wanted more information and trolled about it, heres what i mean: Is it safe to leave my laptop on all night while i download something? Will it overheat, will it's hardware inside melt or get damaged, ect.)
It's extremely unsafe, leaving Laptops on overnight will give you cancer.
It's extremely unsafe, leaving Laptops on overnight will give you cancer.
Cancer if you're lucky.
i dont think it will be unsafe, i mean unless your are worried about it overheating i dont think there will be a problem.
It's extremely unsafe, leaving Laptops on overnight will give you cancer.
Thats only if you have wireless internet, im using a cored and got my wireless land disabled.
Don't fucking do it man.
Thats only if you have wireless internet, im using a cored and got my wireless land disabled.
It's still very unsafe, you really don't want to risk cancer, don't do it.
It's still very unsafe, you really don't want to risk cancer, don't do it.
lol its impossible to get cancer threw a ethernet cored. Its also true tho that you can get cancer threw wireless internet.

If you want to ignore the answers we give you because it inconveniences you, that's fine with me. I'm not the one about to get cancer.

I was talking about my freaking computer.
Goddammit, i wasn't talking about my own health. I was talking about my freaking computer.
Your computer will set on fire and you will get cancer. End of story. Heed our warning or take the chance.
Maybe you should of been more specific in the OP then?
Didnt you read my question? "I'm gunna be downloading a mod for bf2 that is about 3 gigs" That practically explains it all. Trolling + spam = No fun.
I leave my overclocked laptop on all night. It's been running without restarting for over a week. Its fine damnit. Its safe. Put it on it's side against a wall to make sure it can ventilate.
Goddammit, i wasn't talking about my own health. I was talking about my freaking computer.
Your computer is the last thing you should be worried about. Do you know how many lap top related deaths there were last year?

OK then. It is safe. Also nothing in your computer can cause you cancer. exept for maybe the backlight CCFL if you take it out. It has some UV. But don't worry about that. [editline]06:34AM[/editline] And no, Wireless doesn't do shit.
found my question from a buddy and some others who actually took some time into this topic. (my friends quote, "No. Cancer only happens when bad cells attack healthy ones, and that has nothing to do with anything outside your body. Cell phones don't cause it, microwaves don't, computers don't… just the cells inside you're body." [editline]06:35AM[/editline]
"I'm gunna be downloading a mod for bf2 that is about 3 gigs" That is not a question.
No dur...... that sentence just explained I ment internet + my laptop.
Radiation can cause cancer, and your laptop IS radioactive by being on. I wouldn't risk it man, especially when your sleeping. When you sleep, your cells repair themselves and grow, and this is the perfect time for cancer to strike and to mutate your cells. By leaving your laptop on, you could risk the chance of death, or guaranteed a shorter lifespan.

Did i even say my laptop was in the room i sleep in? I dont think so. Theres too many people not answering my question and adding stuff about cancer. I put more info on my first post about what I actually wanted to hear.
What you could do, if the download can be resumed, and assuming you are using a PC or running Windows. You could leave it on for, say, 200 minutes, and have it auto shut-down. Just type in run: Shutdown -s -t 12000 It will shutoff your computer in 200 minutes (3 hours). I do this all the time.
Leave it on and watch Tv or something?
Radiation can penetrate walls easily. Even right now, your being bathed in radiation that is not even in the same room as you are. Do you really want to die to try a "mod"? Think of the headline, "Teenager recklessly commits suicide to please gaming needs". We don't need any more bad press for video games, we have enough of that shit already.
"Teenager recklessly commits suicide to please gaming needs".
This stuff happens.

I'm Really starting to get pissed with Flaming and Trolling.
Everything I have said is 100% true. Any professor or doctor or scientist will agree with me. But don't let me tell you how to die. Do what ever you want.
just make sure the room it's in isn't hot, like have your airconditioner on, and make sure it's got a reasonable amount of ventialiation/airflow. my mate leaves his laptop on to download things. i leave my PC on all night on the weekends (downloading/uploading things offpeak). it should be fine, unless it's overheated during nomrla day use. then there could be a problem
Considering I haven't turned this laptop off in about 5 months, I'd say go for it.
Just leave it on. The amount of damage it could do is the equivalent of getting a paper cut. Hell I haven't turned my computer off for 6 years.
