It honestly is awful even though it looks nicer. I'll be using web based Google Maps until they put their own app out. Though with their track record with the Youtube app it'll have no iPad support.

You'd think they'd fix this in the developer betas, huh.
Apple summarized :v:
Y'kno except the iPhone 5 is really only surpassed by the LG Optimus G and still performs better in real use but if you completely ignore all that yah it's definitely worse in every way. Apple clearly uses the worst hardware and their software is the worst too.
I was going to upgrade my phone but since I moved into uni and have no clue where I am in regards to moving around I think ill stick on IOS 5 if the maps are useless
Here's a good comparison: http://i.imgur.com/MyWGT.jpg
Even Google's app can be fucked at times. There have been multiple times where it asks me to turn into opposing traffic, turn onto roads that aren't there (anymore?), and just outright crashes.
While I certainly prefer Google Maps, it's normal that they get some complaints since it's only recently released, while Google Maps has existed for a long time. I'm sure they know Apple knows their app (or their map data) still needs a lot of fixing.
Apple summarized :v:
how to spot an android fanboy 101: they always talk shit about apple in apple related threads
Yeah it sucks, but it's kind of expected. I find it odd that TomTom has provided the map data though. You'd think they'd be on top of it. It's literally all they do, it's the whole business. If their maps are shit what use are they?

It's probably servers being overloaded or TomTom gave apple really shitty data
Well TomTom is still selling their own app for iOS as well, maybe they wanted to make sure their app would still sell?

Sygic beat the standalone GPS unit hard. Speed and responsiveness and the maps were both better.
Well TomTom is still selling their own app for iOS as well, maybe they wanted to make sure their app would still sell?
that's a good way to get backlash from apple :v:

Android on the other hand got an update for Google Maps, something that works and won't break.

So why do I have to dial whine-one-one because of you now?
We went tripping around Europe, we had an android phone with Sygic and a TomTom GPS. Speed and responsiveness and the maps were both better.
My only beef with Sygic is that I can't ignore some updates without the app refusing to work normally. Imagine that happening on-the-go with no data plan :v: Quite the phone bill I got after forcefully turning on 3G data. Oh well, what happens when you don't double check your equipment before storming out of the door, though still a quite dickish thing.
oh my god android is not better than iOS, they're hard to compare because they fill different roles in the mobile market. get off your high horse

Can someone confirm the level of shittyness of Apple's mapping feature?
I hope when google releases their own ios app that it will be as awesome as the youtube one.

Fuck satellite photographs. I use a 12 year old GPS that uses bitmaps as the actual map. :v:
