:siren:This is a newer and revised thread, please let the old one die, as the OP of that thread is about the leak that was ages ago:siren: :siren: Now released! :siren: Okay so you are looking at the title right. Reading the second part. And thinking to yourself: "HAHA no fucking way!" Well actually... Tests by Opera themselves: Wait hang on just one little second here. These tests are done by Opera, they can't be trusted, can they? Because those tests were done by Opera ASA themselves. I took the time to run the tests on my own computer, on a brand new Windows 7 install, with NO other applications installed whatsoever. Fairly similar result. So it's fast. That is good, but what else is new? Besides from upgraded rendering and javascript engines, Opera 10.50 has more news up it's sleeve. It's gotten a total overhaul on the interface and skin side. The tab bar is now on top, and the title bar is gone (Like Chrome). To replace the menu buttons we previously had on top, we've now got a nice little button in the top left instead, and if you don't like it this way, you can set it back to how it was before with TWO clicks. According to Opera, the address field has also been upgraded to work more smoothly, and find more relevant results than before. We've also finally got private browsing in Opera, and before you go saying that Opera is way behind with this feature, they actually did something new with it. Instead of having to open a whole new window when you want to browse privately, Opera lets you open just a private tab, in the same window as all your other tabs. This means that there is no more clutter with multiple windows when using private browsing. Opera also got new integration features with Windows 7. This includes jumplists, and even the green progress bar over the icon (One of the few goodies Internet Explorer 8 actually had). If this still isn't enough for you, then you might want to take a look at the list MisterMooth made, about all the features Opera has. (Thank you)
Speed Dial - Have up to 25 sites pinned to a new tab Snappy UI - Not only is the rendering quick, but the interface is very snappy and responsive, unlike FF Tabbed browsing with MDI Built in mouse gestures Built in mail client Built in RSS reader Built in IRC client Built in notes Built in download manager Opera Link - Synchronizes all your bookmarks, Speed Dial, notes and more to your My Opera account Visual tabs Session manager - Save your tabs and windows whenever you like so you can load your sessions again Trash Can - for opening up closed tabs. Unlike FF, the Trash Can is easier to get to and lists every tab you've closed in that session Skins Interface can be easily customized however you want Opera has been a leader in browser security for many years Excellent standards support Widgets Opera Unite - Allows you to use your computer essentially as a web server for easy-to-use apps Opera Turbo - Compresses web pages for slow connections Voice control Built in easy-to-use content blocker Built in popup blocker Wand for filling in personal info in a single click. Also saves passwords Built in User Javascript support (Greasemonkey) Custom search engines. Add your own search engines and access them simply by using a letter in the address field and then typing your search.
Now you've heard all about it, so go get it right here (Hh yeah and this updates, so if you find this thread in two years and click the link, you'll still find the newest beta version of Opera, even though all the other content is obsolete): http://www.opera.com/browser/next/ Link for released one: http://www.opera.com/browser/ If you feel there is a special addon for Firefox that is missing, tell me and I will most likely find an equivalent.
You did not ad the picture i suggested. :saddowns:
You did not ad the picture i suggested. :saddowns:
You can add it yourself if you wish. In your own post.
Has anybody got a Changelog ? I want to know what's different compared to the last pre-alpha build they released.
i always hated opera I like Firefox. Give me a reason to use Opera, other than having X thing faster. Firefox is already near instant for me..
Might as well try it, considering from what those charts say it's faster than chrome in some aspects.
You know, this seems a bit biased
Wait hang on just one little second here. These tests are done by Opera, they can't be trusted, can they? Always enjoyed using Opera, had to switch to Chrome because suddenly, for some strange reason, the current version of Opera started running extremely slowly while Chrome experienced nothing. Probably some obscure setting that got switched. Hoping the beta will fix it.

We, in this specific thread, have only been waiting for you to speak out, as your personal preference in browsers means a lot to us and is an essential piece of information in during the beta testing of this browser. I demand your post to be added to the OP.
Opera 10.50 IS now the fastest browser. I ran a small test on Safari, Firefox, Chrome (Google Chrome 'release'), Opera 10.50 and IE. Of all the RELEASE browsers, Chrome wins. But other then that, Opera 10.50 seems to beat chrome in the nuts.
I was wondering what's the difference other than speed? something that would make it different from the other browsers
What about Chrome 5.0?
I was wondering what's the difference other than speed? something that would make it different from the other browsers
Essentially, it's now as fast as chrome but with all the features that were desperately missing from that browser. Plus it looks even better, and has a few decent addons.

tl;dr [editline]08:35PM[/editline] but i'll read it now that it's not in the first post [editline]08:35PM[/editline] thanks
You know, this seems a bit biased
What can I say. I like Opera? So yes it might be a bit biased, but everything I have written is true. Doesn't take a genius to understand that.
Tried to import my chrome bookmarks from a html file, it froze. Then again, all browsers I use do this.
Awaiting the Mac beta, and with it hopefully the lovely smooth scrolling like in Windows.
but the stumbeupon "toolbar" is fail, just tried it in comparison to firefox, its not that great
Fastest browser my ass. Loads extremely slowly for me. Back to chrome for me.
This or firefox... :C
Now it's working fast for me. Just took it 3 minutes to start working properly.
Chrome 5.0 is released, and according to peacekeeper is faster than Opera 10.5 beta too. Sorry Opera, you still lose.
lol @ IE speeds I used to use Opera, got tired of all the "sorry, your browser is unsupported".
lol @ IE speeds I used to use Opera, got tired of all the "sorry, your browser is unsupported".
Very rare today.
on another note, when i saw the title i said to myself "Fuck Off OP" it isnt fast at all compared to my inferno fox! :smug:
Bye bye firefox, at least until 3.7/4
Firefox still has all the addons I like though. :frown:
What's the shortcut for deleting private data?
Thank god now I can stop using the pre-alpha
